Favorite/Most memorable Vols game.

Florida 1998...I was freshman at UT and it was unreal. More recent was the Cal game @ Neyland. That was a killer atmosphere and great way to start the season.

98 Arkansas game. I live in Arkansas and love bringing up the stoerner fumble every chance I get. Funny thing is my mom is the CFO of a radio station and stoerner does some stuff for them and he gets ragged all the time for that play. Career passing leader at Arkansas and one play is what he'll be remembered for. Brilliant.

This.
Also would like to add the '85 Sugar Bowl against Miami.

Too bad you young pups weren't around for this one. 10+ long years of mediocrity or worse. Heavy underdogs to Jimmy Johnson's hair. Superdome filled to the brim with breathless orange-clad "praying for a miracle" Vol fans. And, for once, the miracle - it was delivered. Bourbon Street late that night - standing outside the hotel where those few Hurricane fans were staying - singing Rocky Top at the top of our lungs - priceless. This is the moment when the Vols were back. Hoping for another such moment soon...

My buddy and I traveled to Baton Rogue for the LSU game in 05. We were harrassed pretty hard before the game and even worse through most of the game. Funny thing most of those turds were pretty quite on the walk back to the car. I sure wasn't though. Not sure how we made it out alive as obnoxious as i was acting but we did. No doubt the most memorable game I've ever went to. I still love watching the replay and seeing the look on all thier faces when Riggs rumbles into the endzone to win the game in overtime. Definately the high point of an otherwise crappy season.

I agree! The 05 comeback against LSU is my most memorable game. Shame it was wasted on such a crappy season. Still, I really thought we were facing insurmountable odds. LSU was bigger and faster, the mystique of playing in death valley at night, plus the emotion everyone in Baton Rouge was riding because of hurricane katrina. A comeback in the 2nd half was the last thing I ever expected.

Most memorable for me was 06 California at Neyland. Took my son to his first game. That was one of the best days of my life. We spent the whole day walking around campus and the strip. When they ran through the "T" his eyes got as big as saucers. That sealed his fate as a VOLS fan. He says to this day, that was the most awesome thing he has seen in his young life.

The atmosphere was electric. The first play of the game, set the whole tone. It was a deep out to Meachem for a grab on the sidelines.

Back then, it was pretty common to see studens (and others) wear a sport coat and tie to the game.
Tennessee is leading 24-0 late in 4th quarter.
Alabama had not been shut out since 1959 (I think).
Some Alabama fans were sitting a couple of rows in front of me including a guy wearing his coat and tie.
Anyway, he stands up , takes his coat and tie off, hands them to his girl friend and leaves.
Alabama has the ball on about their own 25 yard line, time is running out, Bama is in the huddle, the Vols are already spread out in their defense.... waiting.
This dude jumps the fence, runs out on the field , grabs the football, runs the 75 yards to the endzone, slams the ball down for "his Alabama" touchdown, then runs around the stadium giving everyone the finger with both hands until the cops down him and take him to jail.
I'll never forget the Bear having to rely on fan in order to make the endzone against the Vols!!!!!

My first game ever, '98 against Arkansas. I was eight years old and remember it like it was yesterday. To this day I have never heard Neyland as loud as when Arkansas fumbled and then again when Henry punched it in.

I was also at that game. My wife is from Califrnia and that's the first time I ever took her to a game(we had meet earlier that year). She wasn't a Cal fan but being from northern California she was giving me a hard time the whole summer about how Cal was gonna beat us. That's the night she feel in love with Tennessee football. That was an amazing night. That's also one I'll (and I'm sure my wife) will never forget.

I agree. Wonder if John Ward said "Give him six?"

#1 Aub at UT, Boney Tony at QB and a D that throttled Superman - aka Bo Jackson.

My first Vol's game was in 1965, a JV game if I remember correctly. Some kind of 4-H club deal. Exciting trip for a 5th grader.

Don't know if you can see my Avatar that well, but that's the headlines on Jan. 2nd in the Nashville papers. NO ONE.... gave the vols a chance to win that game. Darryl Dickey played a very good game, and shocked the whole football world.

The NC was won on my b-day so i have to go with that. No parties, no cake, just me sitting 2 ft. from the TV and singing rocky-top all night long. Greatest present ever.

Indeed. And if I remember correctly, Miami scored first and the announcers went wild kissing up to Miami. Then it was all UT.
