The whole 86 Sugar bowl when he and the others are eating crow after Tennessee with a back up QB spanked Miami 35-7 after falling behind 7-0 on the opening drive.

Interesting to note they KJ ask Frank Broyles about a playoff system in 1986. It took 30 yrs to get one.

Any "call" KJ made was my favorite. Always enjoyed his delivery, had had good support staff and/or really new the game he was announcing. Have miss him from sports since his retirement. "OOOOO Nellie" really miss him!!

MY God! Get over it! Manning didn't deserve the Heisman that year. It's not a career award. He choked against Florida and then had a really bad game against Vandy in the last game of the year.

And you're just wrong about what ESPN showed. We were on there plenty

Went back and forth between him and John Ward during the '98 title. Thought his anecdote about Cafego telling Fulmer "Good luck, I'll be watching" was really cool.

Enjoyed being able to share that with my Grandmother, who went to school with Cafego and was way too nervous to watch the game.

NOONE I've ever heard paints a picture of the action while staying focused on the play like the Legend--one Mr. John Ward!

Always liked Keith Jackson. He was one of my favorites even though I don’t think he had any love for Tennessee. He once said his favorite game to broadcast was Alabama at Tennessee. I think he really liked Neyland Stadium and the atmosphere. Sorry to see him go. I think he was one of the great ones

I can't recall him ever saying anything positive about my Vols when broadcasting one of our games....sad to see him go tho.

I think part of the problem was giving it to Woodson who DEFINITELY didn’t deserve it. Probably if it had gone to an offensive player (which we all know is really where the award is earned) then the controversy wouldn’t have been so intense. The whole process that year was mixed up and became an advertising propaganda overload.

It doesn’t get any better. Absolutely the greatest sign off in history. I miss John Ward terribly and truly feel his retirement was the beginning of our curse.

I could've sworn that after that TD, that he said, "and the rout is on." Watched some of the game last night just to see, didn't hear it. It was on YouTube and was cut to exclude huddles.

1994: Tennessee at UCLA. Peyton Manning makes his first appearance as quarterback for UT (after the 2 guys ahead of him got hurt). Keith Jackson says "here comes Peyton Manning as quarterback..." followed by "get used to it". HE WAS RIGHT. THIS WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE GOAT".

After the Testaverde sack (3rd Q?) where he tries to roll away from pressure and TN smushes him from behind (perhaps Jones and Hovanic), and the fumble squirts forward about 15 yards

How would you justify Lamar Jackson last year? Folded like a cheap suit in the last 3 games - shouldn't that have disqualified him?

I don't have any except all the times he was wrong trashing the Vols while "calling" the 1985 Sugar Bowl. :)
Keith Jackson was one of the most biased College Football announcers and it was clear he hated the Vols. Never knew why, but I really don't care...

Back in '82, there was this time my bud and I were rocking it at the Katch One.

My friend got drunk and started to climb up on stage.

Keith came in the door and said, "Whoa...Nelly"

Not a playcall, but a half time funny in the 1980 TN-Bama game. It was an awful rain at Neyland Stadium, Charlie Daniels was doing the half time show. He had a big hit called in America, which had lyrics saying that America was back and "if the Russians don't believe it, they can all go straight to hell" that was bound to draw cheers. Keith Jackson, cut from the booth to Charlie Daniels right at that part of the song. They immediately went back to Jackson who said in his drawl, "I think we went down a mite bit too early". Just a funny live tv moment. BTW Bama won 27-0. 😣

Keith Jackson was a legend. It's funny that when people don't slobber all over UT, they're called UT haters. My dad used to whine about him, too.
