We think a lot alike, (sorry) I should have included Rudd, but I never was a fan of Wallace. And I should have included Ken Schrader. It would be a toss-up as to who I would want to see win at least one more race between him, Mark Martin and Dale Jarrett.

right now I really like matt kenseth. Favorite all time is Mark Martin. I can't lie though, I loved Dale Sr as well. If he would've kept the blue and yellow Wrangler car it would have been a no brainer.

for the others old school drivers, i never could say they were favorites, not because i didn't like them, but just because i really respected them. the drivers of today are just different than those olds guys, and it's sad to see them go. but it's like every other sport, at some point or another, it time for the old legends to step down and the new legends to step up. it's been going on for awhile in NASCAR. i think that's hard for some fans to accept. not necessarily anybody here, but just in general.

After Rusty tumbled down the stretch at Talladega, I started to root for him.

Ernie Irvan should be in my list as well, just because my dad loved the #28 car.

My dad cusses all things Chevrolet and he still liked Earnhardt sr.

dooz, it's handsome harry, harry gant? If so, I'm a big Gant fan, but only because he was my dad's favorite driver. I remember he went on a tear once and won like three or four in a row in the mid nineties. Hopefully you or broyles can help me remember that scenario a little better.

Gant earned the nickname "Mr. September" in 1991 after winning all four September Cup races (Darlington, Richmond, Dover and Martinsville) and two Busch races (Richmond and Dover) at age 51. The four consecutive cup victories ties the modern era record set in 1972. Harry might have won his fifth straight race if his brakes hadn't faded with 9 laps left to go at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Harry Gant got his last cup victory on August 16, 1992, at the Champion Spark Plug 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

I bet it was an Old Timer brand knife. That was one of his sponsors. You were right on about Harry being Mr. Sept. for 4 wins in a row. I saw all four on TV, and the Martinsville race was particularly unique in that he was not leading the race until after he hit the wall with the right front corner. He then had the fastest car, and he claimed the car previously had a bad push which the wreck fixed! Harry was notorious for crying the blues before a race with the other drivers about how poorly his car was running, and then go out and beat them.

You still occassionally hear an announcer, usually DW talk about the "Harry Gant" line, particularly at Dover, when a driver runs next to the wall. That's where he liked to run when he could.

Harry was a terror in the BGN series, and won several races at Bristol driving for a Bristol based car owner Ed Whitaker. At one time they held the record for the most BGN wins for a driver/owner combo.

When Harry was away from the track, his favorite pastime was to build houses.

"Wingtip" Dave, he refused to wear driving shoes when they became available, because he had found that regular leather-soled wingtips protected his feet from the floarboard heat as well as anything.

The absolutely most difficult guy to pass if he didn't want you to pass him. Early in his career when Terry Labonte was leading at Bristol trying to win his 1st Cup race, Marcis wouldn't let him by. Terry bumped him out of the way, then later when Terry tried to pass him again, Marcis pulled low as to let him go. When Labonte got next to him, Dave ran him into the wall keeping Terry from winning most certainly.
