Gotta be Daryl Dickey in the 86 Sugar Bowl!

No. 8 TN vs no. 2 Miami coached by Jimmy Johnson. Vinny Testeverde QB.

In an interview before the game, Johnson said in effect "after we beat TN we should be ranked no.1"

We kicked their asses 35-7!!:rock::rock:

Jason Witten outrunning two defenders for Michigan into the endzone was great.

The whole defense in the Miami game in 85

Bill Duff stopping Eddie George on 4th and inches in the 95 Citrus (I think) bowl.

gotta be the 86 sugar bowl for me. #2 miami runnin that mouth all week, dressed in camos, sayin tennessee didnt belong in a game with them. the d dominated that day.

this is from the sugar bowl website:
'Dickey was 15-of-25 for 131 yards a touchdown in a "most outstanding" performance. The Tennessee defense squeezed Miami as it hadn't been squeezed in years. The Hurricanes had a net of 269 yards, 92 in the fourth quarter. Testaverde was sacked seven times for losses of 84 yards, and was belted into losing the ball three times.

"It was fun while it lasted," Johnson said of Miami's long-shot reach for No. 1. "We came close, but no cigar."

As high as the Vols were flying, though, Sugar Bowl fears had come true. The game was a runaway - only the winner was a surprise - and Oklahoma beat Penn State for the national championship in the Orange Bowl. The rout translated into a 6.8 TV share, worst in Sugar Bowl history.

Yet, a mixture of chemistry, of an unheralded Daryl Dickey at quarterback and retread defensive coordinator Ken Donahue, gave Tennessee one of its most satisfying football moments. The Vols became the biggest underdog to win a Sugar Bowl.'

BOOM!

Vinny had a better view of the Superdome roof than of his wide receivers

Peerless Price in the 1998 Fiesta Bowl. Huge touchdown pass. Made into a famous picture around here and a painting of him catching that pass is in my room

Webb in 1990 was absolutely amazing and the 86 Sugar is hard to beat

enjoyed the 02 Citrus as a game but it was still a bitter consolation prize

Chuck Webb, 1990 Cotton Bowl
26 carries, 250yds (9.6ypc), 2TD's

It still simply kills me how good this guy could have been if he'd stayed healthy. I'm literally talking about being mentioned in the same breath with names like Bo and Herschel.

YouTube - Chuck Webb's "relentless" day at the Cotton Bowl

EASY PICK!!!!!!

By far the best!!!!!

Anthony Hancock in the 1981 Garden State Bowl was great! 196 yrds receiving! (2nd best)

While I loved the 1998 NC game, the 86 Sugar Bowl is the biggest win IMHO. They were talking trash all week, and nobody gave us a chance. Keith Jackson called the entire game like Miami was the best team in America. They scored first and we never let them up the rest of the game.

I still have a VHS tape of that game - and I don't even have a way to watch it anymore !

GO VOLS !
