My favorite basketball player, hell my favorite athlete period is Gary Payton...my favorite Vol? Wayne Chism.

Good choice, the Glove is up there on my list as well.

My all-time Vol name favorite is Alico Dunk with Weezy being a close second.

My all-time favorite Vol has to be CLo tho.

Chris Lofton is my favorite just because he played in this era but after watching all the stuff on Bernard King, it's hard not to appreciate how dominate he was and not to mention what all he went through growing up and while he was at UT.

He's the guy I tried to play like, play lockdown D and never shut up talking. I mastered one of those.

Chris is probably 3rd, behind Chism and Slay I loved their passion for the game.

Benard King followed by Ron Widby. Ron was an all american in football and basketball plus lettered in baseball and golf. He is the last Vol to have lettered in four different sports in college. he had a 50 point game which was and maybe still the record for most points in a basketball game.

Lofton. Everything he played through without complaint, without revealing it to the public. Huge heart. Others may have been better, none were more selfless.

I'll wade in here. I from upper East Tenn and played ball against Gary Carter. He won me over when he snared an inbound pass and hit a half court shot to beat a good American Universtity team in the old Vol Classic. We were down by one and a couple of seconds left in the game. They had the ball and threw it to half court and Carter stole it and turned around and hit the shot. Big Time! There team was a lot like the A&M team we lost to today. Very good. :lolabove:

Lofton.

Granted I think he should have taken his last year off to undergo his chemotherapy and then come back and played the following season, rather than do them both in the same year.

I am surprised that Tom Boerwinkle has not been mentioned even once by anyone yet. The guy was an All-American and played 10 years in the NBA for the Bulls.
