I'm not sure what Hefney's 40 is, but I know it's fast. Berry, Mckenzie, Willingham all run below a 4.4. That's truly insane.

carl pickens started out as a DB....he was fast. As was dale carter, don't recall their 40 times off the top of my head, but both were quick........

of course, but speed back then is not speed now. Carter would have probably been below 4.4. That guy was insane.

What does Wade run? I know he runs track at UT.
Not sure of his 40 time..I would have to look but at the current time I don't feel like it.

I have no problem in saying that if Carl Pickens and Dale carter were of college age today, they'd be perfectly capable of competing with today's atheletes. this wasn't 30 years ago. we're talking 12-15.

Terry McDaniel was the fastest DB we ever had. I saw him come from 20 yards behind to run down tailbacks or WR's that were in the clear heading for the goalline.

i dont think any of our guys run under 4.4 except for berry.. wade was listed at 4.4 on nfldraftscout.com same with hefney... not takin anything away though 4.4 is still ligit! D-mo was plenty fast and he was listed at 4.41 i think

40 time might be the most overhyped stat in the history of the world.

Maybe so, but show me a defense with Cb's that run 4.5 or 4.6 40's and I'll show you a defense that must play zone in their secondary.

You're probably right, but I'll bet you'd be surprised how many 4.6 and 4.7 guys there are running around in defensive backfields. I guess it's not that I don't think speed is important, it's just that I think a lot of 40 times are bogus.

I don't think UT has had a top 25 secondary since Slade has been coach or since Chavis has been defensive coordinator. Apparently Slade's not going anywhere. I don't see the secondary getting that much better.

weren't you the one saying 98 was irrelvant with regards to Fulmer now? But it is revelevant with regards to Slade who didnt start coaching until 99?
