To me, it looks like Tennessee is bigger, faster, and stronger than Pittsburgh.
Coaching will have to be better on Pitts side to win imo
Am I wrong?
Zone reads need to account for at least 1/3 of our running game. Hooker’s most dangerous aspect of his game is his running ability. Him being a threat to run opens up a lot more opportunity for the RBOur run blocking could have been better yes. No Tiyon Evans stinks too.
BUT our pass pro was fantastic.
Also...once we add HH runs outside of just the goalline, that is the difference maker. We'll have to run him vs Pitt and UF and it will make a huge schematic difference.
They also played a team that finished in the top 25 last year that went 11-3 and shut them out and held them to 57 yards passing. We played a Ball State team that went 6-7 and had they not fumbled at the endzone would’ve put up 17 on us and they put up over 250 yards passingBama had zero sacks in their blow out win. Don't hear sports show host whining about that.

Real question here… how do you think our linebackers and DB’s will handle the same game plan when it’s executed by more athletic players with better coaching?Go watch Freak's condensed game video and count how many times Ball State either screens, takes quick drops or the ball comes out as soon as his back foot hits the ground on a dropback. I'm not saying there shouldn't have been more pressure, but it's obvious the plan was to get the ball out in the air as quickly as possible. Their QB really did a good job without much around him.
That writer didn't watch the same game as we didI agree with this article.
Tennessee’s defensive line failed its first test. It has to pass the next one
Do you have a stat source that shows things like that?Hey, this guy gets it.
It's shocking how others don't get this. There's more to a game than old school box stats. Look at the context, in this case the TTP (Time to Pass).
IF we had been getting shredded for medium and long passes, then by all means critique our pressure. But it wasn't that whatsoever. We had our scheme, they played into it and we crushed them.
They weren't a "far better team" than UT last year. UT missed some opportunities to put them away and Pickett played like a Heisman candidate. Food for thought. That vaunted Pitt OL and run game only produced 96 yds with a 2.13 ypc vs UT last fall. The "love" for that phase of their game is based on a superficial look at stats last year. Even just the next layer deep shows that they picked on weaklings. Pickett has 301 yds passing after he got things going. They were a far better team than us last year and barely won.
