I was surprised he made it through last years TN SC game. I figured he sent his wife into his office at the start of the 3rd qtr to get all his stuff.
Got lucky in which TN had an offensive penalty on last play of the game. Kicker missed the field goal, but got a mulligan to try again from 5 yds further back. Made it and put it in overtime and TN won. Lived on the edge too long. Tommy and Phillip always seemed to have that one game that saved them. Ironically they both got extensions and fired the exact same years.

As an Alabama fan, I understand completely what Tennessee is doing and back them 100%, the game is changing and schools have to change with the times.
Fulmer is a great coach and a great man, but his time has come to retire and enjoy the work he has done.
I hope Tennessee is going to follow through with their actions thus far and now get a coach that can follow what Fulmer has put in place. I know some of you are going to laugh at me and tell me Fulmer hasn't done anything of late, but all in all he's done a hell of a job.
I want the RIVALRY to be a good one, and I think the days of a good rivalry are coming again!!!!
Congrats to the Vols, and with all respect to what Fulmer has done.
AND NO........it was not Fulmer's fault for getting Alabama in trouble with the NCAA.
IT WAS ALABAMA'S FAULT. We have paid the price and now let's ALL move on!!!!

Do Facilities count. Conference Count. I would think stepping into a job that has had only 4 coaches in the last 45 years would mean something. With the Right Coach he could be real comfortable in that Position knowing he was going to be here for a while. Plus playing at home with 105000+ fans puts that at the premier level. Look at the National exposurer this year alone and years past. 6 nationally televised games. That is Premier.

don't you imagine that this is very similar to the weak ass excuse making that happens all over every prison in America.

"I didn't did it", "e'body else was doin' it", "I'm gonna bust that cop's ass when I roll up outta here", etc.

I think it was definitely time for a change. The Vols still get some good talent recruited, but a couple more bad years, and those prospects won't be having Knoxville first on their list. There is something broken with the system, and there needs to be an overhaul.

I kind of feel bad for Fulmer, because at least he really bleeds and has bled Orange for years...our coach is just a gun for hire...no real FL ties.

Coach Fulmer has been associated with TN football since 1968 as a player, assistant and head coach... so you know his blood runs orange.

Outside of the more recent BS between the Bama and Vol Nations the rivalry has always been great, sometimes volatile, but great non the less.

I started to give my two cents on your coach leaving, but coming from a fan who's team has put him in and out of coaching carousal rehab clinics, decided it would be best I didn't. :victory:

As a rival fan I'd just like to thank Fulmer for his dedicated service to UT and for what he's done for the SEC as well.
