Fans - Make Knoxville Proud

I go by the rule that, if theyre nice I'll be nice in return. But if they walk around disrespecting our fans, our school, our stadium, thats when there will be problems. This is, after all, our town.

This is exactly how I look at it.

We never learn. Years and years and years of history and we never learn.

Jesus, our Creator said,

"Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

“But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.

And back to football.

For anyone that has traveled to support the Vols on the road, you know that impressions go a long way.
I've been to plenty of road games, and the way I was greeted by the home team's fans will always stick with me.
For instance, I will always remember frat guys trying to pick a fight with me (just for not wearing their colors) at Georgia and Clemson. Then again, I will also always remember the guys that bought me and my friends a congratulatory pitcher of beer in Gainesville after the 2001 game.
You don't have to buy anyone a beer, but please at least be respectful to opposing fans that are in our town. Our strip is kind of a dump right now, so don't send them home thinking Knoxville is just some awful place to visit.
I once saw a group of drunk morons (UT students) scream in the face of an elderly couple wearing Alabama colors as they were walking into Neyland. I apologized for them, but I'm sure the damage was done.
They're going to experience enough pain by watching their team get destroyed by the Vols tomorrow. No need to add to that by being a d-bag outside the stadium. Save your energy for screaming at their team on the field.

Treat others like you would want to be treated if you were visitors.

I personally hope that any gator fan that comes to neyland is miserable and never wants to come back. If there were no Florida fans in the stadium, I would be happy. That said, I never taunt other fans. I don't understand what people get out of it. Gator fans are the worst about doing it and that's why I can't stand them.

Sounds good to me. Cheering for the Vols is encouraged. Do that with all the passion and enthusiasm you can muster. I just don't want to see anyone embarrass themselves and the rest of Volnation.
Screaming - "Go Vols...wooo!" = Good
Screaming - "Go to Hell you <lots of profanity>" = embarrassing

Thank you for your post. I completely agree about being respectful. We can cheer and still not be rude to anyone. Thanks for the breath of fresh air!

I will be at the game tomorrow, in my Orange and happy. I am taking my adopted kid, a 24 yr old Gator fan. He just bought a new gator shirt for the game, his first college game. I doubt he has ever been to Florida, but whatever. I have been to Bama, to LSU (who teach their kids to spit on opposing fan's at an early age). I hope our fan's show a bit more class. I imagine I will find out tomorrow. GBO!

Tennessee is classy. Lets keep it that way. The 3 teams I HATE in the SEC are AL FL & Vandy & a lot of that is due to their idiot fans. Dont make someone hate Tennessee due to your bad behavior!! Its ok to beat the crud out of them but after we knock them down, lets help them up...then knock them down again next year!
GO VOLS!!

The Lesson of this is, don't be an elderly couple wearing crimson in Knoxville, seriously.

I will always remem...erm have the picture of that time at the national championship game where I had on a LSU shirt, even though I'm Vol fan, and a bama fan put his genitalia on my face.
