Fanbase is Fed up

Really? This is never ok? This happens all the time in baseball and it’s not a big deal. Why now? Some of those calls were beyond egregious. It was warranted. Pay the fine in pennies and move on.

I don't like objects being thrown. That was pretty terrible after a great atmosphere, but I can see why people got mad.

First of all, getting hosed on the "forward progress play. The play was not called dead at the time, they did that retroactively.

The second was that they all of the sudden decided on the final drive to call holding after being held all game by Ole Miss. You can call holding anytime that game, but unless it was egregious you don't call it on that drive. I didn't see something really blatant enough to make that call.

Finally the spot by one ref who was closest had us past the 40 while the other ref who was 15 yards downfield and could not see the ball because of way he was tackled ran up and spotted us a yard short. I really don't know where the ball should be placed, it was very close but definitely not a yard short. It just seemed that the wrong ref made the call and no angle was available to overturn it.

I think the team played their hearts out and some of the fans got caught up in the emotions of it all. Throwing stuff on the field was terrible, but how is no one even talking about how terrible the refs were on that game?

They inserted themselves into the outcome of the game and took 7 points off the board and completely stopped a drives when we had momentum and time at the end of the game.
Nice try at rationalization. There is no excuse. Childish, entitled behavior. Ruined a really good night foe UT.

Yes, Mississippi taunted us all night. Do you know what the purpose of taunting is? To purposely anger someone to the point where they do something stupid and self defeating in response. Congratulations UT fans, you got played like a cheap fiddle.

They also succeeded in making Lane look like the victim................

That was the most clever excuse for condoning civil unrest I've ever heard.

Do better, post less.
Civil unrest? I thought it was pronounced insurrection? It was drunk fans throwing stuff on a field. It’s not the first time this has happened at a sporting event and won’t be the last. Do better, exaggerate less.

Insurrection only applies to Conservatives, not sure all of those idiots involved were.

Nevar4get all those who lost their lives in the tragic October Vols Insurrection

RIP to all those hundreds who perished from water bottles :’(

Were you out for 2020? That was really the MOST clever? I smell virtuous hyperbole, but then again BBQ and Modelo do sometimes reenact the Battle of the Alamo in my gut.

This isn't a product of the way the world is now. It's a throwback to the days gone by. An angry mob of Vol fans once chased a group of referees across campus with intent to do great bodily harm to them. It's more a throwback to that era. It's dumb and pointless to throw things but alcohol, fanaticism and terribly blown calls by the officials fueled it. Throw in 40 faked injuries and Lane and it was fire and gasoline.
It was a mostly peaceful protest!

I truly believe the fanbase has lost their patience.

Ole Miss players taunting the fans and players, faking injuries to slow down our momentum, incompetent officiating, completely ruined a good game.

The fans are tired of being bullied and they finally snapped tonight.
Well...You can't screw 102,455 people and expect everyone to sit there and take it.

The fact that anyone is trying to justify the actions of our fans is a complete joke. It was totally classless and has no place in college sports. Sad because it legit makes me question if I should ever take my young kids to a game.

Oh and by the way, it wasn’t a first down anyway.

Glad our fan base could help you figure out that taking your young kids to a sporting event distributing alcohol and to likely last until midnight might not be the best idea.

May want to rethink that family trip to Afghanistan this summer.

Honestly answer - in a fairly called game, do the fans react the way they did, even if we lose?

In the 100 years of football at Neyland stadium, is there anything to suggest the fans would react they way they did had this been even close to a fairly called game?

Honestly answer that, then come back with who is really to blame.
So your argument is that it is ok because fans didn't like the call and don't get upset when they like the call? There is not a person sitting in jail in America right now that doesn't think they were somehow justified in whatever they did. They are wrong and so were they fans that behaved this way. Circumstances don't determine what is right or wrong. This was an embarrassment and needs to be dealt with.

Next time we have this officiating crew, they should hand out vaseline as you walk in the gate. You will feel better and not throw things!

I'm ready to embrace the bad boy image. Everyone hates UT already, may as well give them a reason.
A good start would be recruiting Nolan for the DLine. Actually our defense played a great game and that's great for a team that's as limited as UT is when it comes to depth. We need to get a good NIL package for Nolan. He chose to play for Powell for a reason and I hope he was at the game last night.
