Fan vs Fan (merged)

Well it doesn't take a MORON as you say to see that the offensive play calling by our New Offensive Coordinator lost us the game plain and simple!

I thought Fulmer at one point was calling the plays because it was nothing but hurry up and punt all the 2nd Half!

Fulmer would have closed them out. When did he ever run hurry up and punt with a 14 point lead?

We lost, it's over. I have never seen so many damn ******* in my life. Support your team when they're winning and losing or get the **** over yourselves. It's embarrassing as hell to see all you whining ass *****es. Sure it hurts to lose a game and it sucks, but it's time to keep moving. Everyone acts like we were going to be a national title contender. There's a huge percentage around here that needs they're jaws wired shut.

Title contender? I just hate seeing the game being given away. Sorry post like that bother you so much. Maybe its you that should STFU!

I have noticed that most negative people are the loudest, most annoying, attention driven, and mostly self righteous.

I'm upset, we are all upset. Heck I can understand some comments.... but most are here to just run their mouths. Discipline and wisdom would stop them. I can only assume alcohol, being hungover, and betting fuel most of the off the wall stupid comments and threads.

Did you say self righteous? Interesting very interesting.

My thoughts:

Play calling- We played not to lose once we grabbed the lead instead of playing to gain the most yards and score the most points we possibly could.

Playbook- I'm not sold on Butch's playbook. Last year it seemed vanilla but I attributed that to youth. But now I'm afraid this might be it. It appears that we run every single play from one formation and from one motion. There doesn't appear to be any kind of scheme or multiple sets to keep the defense off balance, or to put our skill players in the best match ups.

Defense- the D was solid last night, and our offense could managed anything other than consecutive 3 and outs in the 4th qtr we would have won.

Maggitt- once he went down so did our defensive production. Between this and Todd Kelly Jr's Impact last week, it shows me the youth of our depth are still an issue.

Ref's- 2 missed false starts, a bogus pass interference call, and a non existent holding penalty on the last kick Along with multiple bad spots where the difference in a win and a loss for us. Even with the poor play calling and all of the other mental breakdowns, we still would have won this game if the refs would have done their job.

No excuses even if we would have held on to win last night this was still a loss for this coaching staff.

Butch and company still has work to do to get better themselves. We need to incorporate plays into the offense that will get our 4-5 star recruits in space. Butch is going to have to become an offensive schemer to build upon his system in his basic playbook. He is going to have to learn to adapt and evolve durin a game on both sides of the ball.

Butch is still a relatively young albeit smart coach. I believe he is a smart man, and will do what he has to do in order to win. This is going to be a critical year for both player and coaching staff development.

Man I hope and pray butch hears the criticism. You can't go through life scared to death of your own shadow. Football isn't just about X's and O's. It's also about momentum and psychology. I've never seen a coach with less concept of this than butch. But the thing that ales it so tough is that I don't know that we've ever had as hardworking as butch...and that leads to amazing recruiting. Please lord let someone get in butchs ear and tell him that his entire legacy will be lost (along with his job eventually) if he won't start taking calculated chances.
Point blank...in football coaching aggressive will almost always beat conservative. Look at the dominant teams right now. Ohio state, Oregon, Michigan state, floridly state, Baylor, tcu...see a common denominator? That are all ultra aggressive coached. Even Saban is a reasonable aggressive coach. Can you imagine Saban kicking a fg from the half yard line at home with Jalen Hurd in the backfield? That was one of the poorest decisions I've ever witnessed. And unfortunately I wasn't surprised

i think we can still get a win out of this game. Maybe Stoops trips on over his own shoe laces today after being so tired from the trip and breaks his face.

...it could happen

OU isn't nearly as good as some are trying to make him out to be. And Maryland will be lucky to make a bowl.

Are you people just like the rest of the SEC? Are you so entitled that you refuse to acknowledge OU as a good team? I mean it sounds to me like melodrama and finding any excuse possible to rationalize getting beat. Why do all SEC fans act entitled? That's why the rest of the country can't stand the SEC. Has nothing to do, at least with myself, the universities or teams themselves.
IT IS SEC FANS

It has nothing to do with the SEC but more with knowing we had a chance to put away a good team in prime time under the lights in Neyland and choked. Losing a lead of 14 point in our stadium in the 4th quarter is ridiculous. This board was happy as hell when you knocked off Saban. SEC pride has nothing to do with any of this.

Yes we can still accomplish the ultimate goal (seccg) but people are upset because of the way butch mismanaged all the opportunities we were given and have lost confidence that we'll do better next time. We all remember games again Florida and vandy when butch was unwilling to aggressive keep the foot on the gas and allowed those teams to come from behind and win. Just like we saw again last night.

This is the very reason Nick Saban and Les Miles have championships they step on your throat and hold you down. They never stop they keep the fight to the opposing team the whole game. They do not sit on their leads they keep after the other team so that what happened to us last night never happens.

I don't blame Debord for trying to run the ball unfortunately he is relying on a bunch of lineman that couldn't block a handicapped woman. Dobbs couldn't hit a dump truck driving down the middle of the field. I saw a walk-on out play him in the 4th quarter who was also more mobile.

Is that supposed to be clever?

If u don't like how some fans are tore up about blowing this game, don't get on Volnation and read them. Its that simple.

This. No improvement on the field. Folding in big spots, just like Dooley.

If Butch had the Oline Doodles had we'd be ranked a lot higher and people would be b....ing about something else our play calling has to do with our Oline. It is not good right now they have their moments but not good. So relax a bit. It will get better CBJ said himself it's a process it's all the All American Arm Chair QBs on here that put us in the National Championship game this year...

I think outside of Bama, they just might be the best team we'll face all year. OU would win the SEC East in my opinion. That might not be saying much, but there is not a dominant East team.

UGA isn't as great as people are making them out to be. They have issues at QB. They can run the ball, but they have a green QB.

Shut up. We all love the team, it's the coaches that lost the game were bickering about.

One thing about Fulmer I respected is when a unit ie. Offensive line, secondary or what have you under performed he owned it and it usually got corrected sooner than later.

The fans gave their ALL...the players gave their ALL...the coaches FAILED BOTH PARTIES.

I lost some enthusiasm for Butch after this game. Too conservative and plays not to lose way too much...Fla all over again.

You are giving Oklahoma way way way to much credit. Wait and see. 8-5 doesn't lie. Losing 40-6 to Cole Stout and Clemson doesn't lie. Yes it was last year but this Oklahoma is no better. Stoops sucks but he was still smart enough to replace nearly every assistant after last season. He even tried to replace his own brother but the coordinator he hired immediately left for the NFL. I wish CBJ had the balls to admit his hiring errors.

Terrible. Postgame Butch talked about players making critical mistakes at key moments...when it was he who gagged when it mattered most. Top coaches don't call for a FG in that situation...seriously he should be ashamed.

I agree. Taking the 3 in this big of a game in my opinion was gutless. Butch has showed us how he's going to coach in the future. I really hope he will learn to take chances and open up more in the near future. The thing that worries me, is that most coaches don't change the way they are. Fulmer was a prime example of that. Fulmer never did learn that playing safe and kicking FGs is a recipe for disaster in a big game. And it really looks like Butch is going to be the same kind of coach.

Meh, there have been huge improvements. The major issue is it hasn't translated into wins

Recruiting has been a major upgrade. Past that Butch seems like a good guy that is a PR machine. While thats a cool extra I dont see where that plays in big picture.

How is it that it can never be the "care taker of Tennessee football's" fault? Im so sick of the gimmick bull sh!t, checker Neyland, 63, smokey grey, its a process, youngest team in America blah blah blah STFU Jones. Worry more about being a damn coach and less about being a cheerleader/promoter.

Exactly, I agree 110% this best staff in america crap & the coach talk is getting really old when you keep losing.

This wasn't just losing a game. Our poor coaching was exposed last night. This isn't something we 'adjust' for the next game. We have no scheme for passing, Debord is not creative, doesn't adjust and HAS A LONG HISTORY OF VANILLA, LACKLUSTER PLAY CALLING. We have a systemic problem that will require a different OC to remedy.

We are absolutely loaded with offensive weapons being wasted while Debord sits on his hands and runs the same plays long after the defense has them diagnosed.
Apparently, Debord doesn't trust Dobbs to throw accurately downfield, Dobbs is way too slow deciding to throw to open receivers and Debord has no idea how to get our receivers hooked up in space with short routes that spread the field.

The team is improved. We are now losing games we should win instead of being lit up in games we should only lose by 3. The net result is .......still a loss.
