Fan vs Fan (merged)

While I'm not big on coach bashing ( mainly because the bashers don't see what the coaches see every day) but the coaches get paid a lot so they can take it. What I think is classless is the potshots at individual players. Those guys work a lot harder than any of us and they really do give their all. Act like an adult

While I have a tendency to agree, when you come to a big-time program that has huge expectations you better be prepared to perform. If a player can't take criticism for his mistakes (and every player makes them over the course of their career), he doesn't belong here. I would just as soon they transfer to somewhere where they won't be held to high standards.

I played rugby for 24 years. Before each game, I always told myself...do more positives than negatives and our team will probably win. When I did mess up though, I expected to hear about it, swallow my pride, learn from it, and get better.

There's no bandwagoners left in Tennessee football. All those folks left years ago. What you have left are true Tennessee fans, who might complain a little, but hell, really have every right to after the last 7 years.

Coaching, particularly offensive, was pathetic in the second half last night. I give the defense players and staff all the credit in the world. They gameplanned and played a very good game.

Sorry but I don't think anyone still left around here is a "banwagoner".

Maybe you haven't noticed but this program has a record of 41-46 since 2007. Its not like weve just had a bad season or two....we've had SEVEN in a row.

The banwagoners are loooong gone. Only us gluttons for punishment remain. Take a look around OP...this is your tribe.

Here come the apologists. Tennessee fans are going to call it like they see it.

None of the mistakes by the defense would have mattered if we had a TD on the first possession or even a field goal in the 2nd half by the offense. You know its going to be a close game and you have a young mistake prone team. You just can't leave 4 points laying on the ground.

45 years of grinding for the orange slow poke! Did you sleep through the last decade! This thread is why Tennessee fans are a joke! You must be one of the next year parrots! What a Charlie Brown!

They also can "take it"
What makes "individual players" immune from criticism?
I "give my all" in my life but get reprimanded and criticized everything I produce mistakes.
Is it the orange T that makes them better than coaches and other people?

Your obviously just one of the sheep.

I've been going to games since 1980. I've been through the good and the bad.

I'll never accept a coach who doesn't play to win. Who can't make in game changes that put his team in positions to succeed.

Im pretty sure everyone knows the definition of insanity and what we did in tue second half was insane.

I'll keep buying my season tickets and I understand firing Butch this year would be idiocy. Let him win his 7 to 8 games per year for the 2 to 3 years. Let him stock the cupboard for the next coach who won't coach not to lose.

I live in South Carolina so after watching them lose to Kentucky and seeing Arkansas lose to Toledo, I feel better. South Carolina fans are having a bigger meltdown than us (if that's possible). The SEC East all starts with Florida.
If we lost to Kentucky at home this board would generate nuclear heat and rightfully so.

It'll be ok op. Just the way it works.
I wasn't impressed with much of the second half coaching last night
but Jones was also the reason that I ever thought we were going to win.

Honestly, I don't think he's a great gameday coach.
OTOH, had you told me 3 years ago that we would lose to OK in overtime,
after leading the entire game. LOL, well we'll be ok

I am a proud 30+ year bandwagon fan. I think I'll stay considering that over that time period I have the ass groove in my seat just the way I like it.

Lost in a lot of people's frustration is that Dobbs still hasn't played a full season yet. He's still learning the position. As teams get more game tape on him, the coaching staff is going to have to adjust and he's going to have to get better in critical late game situations. Teams will be loading the box to stop the run until Dobbs can prove he can read a defense. We can get away with it against bad defenses. Against teams with good defenses like OU and Fla, Dobbs has to prove he can do it.
