My first game of the year in person and its my favorite place on Earth.... But kinda disappointed in some things and wonder if we are over doing it... Super disappointed in the band route not coming thru the same ordeal as it has for years... Was so awesome watching from Pedestrian bridge looking down to Salute to the hill... Unfortunately thats changed... And all the lights music seems too much... The band seems to be used less... It's awesome still but just seems a little more "entertainment" vibe than college football lore.... GBO

I’m sure the club music is the best experience for the crappy non-conference games. On the other hand, the student section seems confused on how to contribute during big conference matchups.

I said it a few weeks ago, but I’ll say again that whoever coordinates between the DJ, band, cheerleaders, and light boards is failing to keep the fans engaged.

Well let's face it ,college just like the rest has became entertainment .The days of original are over the days of true vfls are over .It's not just us it all of college ,heck it's even in high school now.But I must say I like the show .the lights the music the fireworks it definitely hypes up the game and when you get a chance to see it in the loudest stadium in all the land ,set back and just soak it in

Yeah music in a TO is okay but every play? You want to focus on the game and the next play.

I’m early 50’s and I have to say it’s very entertaining. I understand losing some of the old school pageantry sucks which I loved but those days are over. Nothing last forever. Look at NASCAR, it’s basically dead and never going back to the southern attraction it was.

The band route has changed a few times to help reduce long lines @ the gates.

Music- welcome to the new era of sports. Bands don’t play as often as they once did as the younger generation enjoys music over traditional band.

Attending games is becoming more and more of a social event rather than the game itself. It happens at every university. The older fans (I’m 54) don’t care for it - rather hear the band and watch the game instead of watching others dance on Jumbotron. But I’m a serious person during the game - only care about the game itself. I talk about the last play or the game itself w those around me during TV time outs.

Younger fans enjoy the music, dancing, swaying back and forth, and the Jumbotron.

Pregame- the music is intended more for the players than the fans as the players go thru warmups.

Neyland is still the best venue in college football. The atmosphere was electric and it was loud last night. My son’s Apple Watch displayed some type of (sound-decibel) warning throughout the game.

It’s become a show. That’s my last home game for a while. I’m absolutely pissed at what Danny did, putting club seat at the top of the lower west stands. Basically cuts or limits access to restrooms and concessions for those in the higher rows.

My one game this season was Arkansas. I don’t mind the modern entertainment touches. What was horribly uncomfortable was the seat space or lack of. Maybe 12 inches between the numbers? Very uncomfortable. And the people next to us had the chair back seats. They left at half and said we could use their seats. The chair backs were worse! The comforts of home and HD are just better and cheaper!

It’s ben that way since i began attending games in 1992. That’s an issue at every b college stadium with bleachers. Otherwise, you couldn’t pack 100k plus

The excuse with the band entrance to the stadium is bs.... Yes it has zero to do with the play on the field .. But eliminating tradition and the alore of what has made UT one of the most traditional Universities in college football is not a good move.... I get its a different time but doesn't give excuses for some decisions being made..

Agreed

I am happy Sterling Henton gets to he a part of the show...but not at the expense of the POTS marching band being treated as am afterthought.

The seat backs are awful!

One of these days I’m going to walk up to Danny White and kick him in the knees for the pain his seat backs have caused me. Someone better tell him it’s coming, because I won’t stick around to explain why.

I will say we still let the Pride play more during games than other stadiums I've been to (although I would still like to hear them more). Mercedes Benz and Commonwealth played music almost nonstop, after ever single play. I was quite surprised in Lexington, as Kentucky has a great band. But they hardly did anything, I felt bad for them.

Needs to be over 50% Pride at least imo, honestly like 75%. Use the other music at critical moments to help pump up the crowd.

I was also extremely disappointed in the new route to the stadium for the Pride. Massive downgrade there, that needs to change ASAP. You can't even see the Hill during their performance. They do the Salute to the Hill to the side of the Haslam business building. Not great Bob.

There was a 15 minute stretch just before kickoff of solid hip-hop. Yep, I'm a boomer, so blast me if you want, but to me it was agonizing. Not saying ditch it, I get it that it's tuned to the young recruits, but at least space it out a little and mix it with a variety. I feel guilty griping about something that is almost trivial, after reading about the guy that got chucked on in a parallel thread. Poor guy, I almost want to start a go fund me for him.

With the diet current Americans have it makes it even worse. All those tubbies should be buying 2 tickets for themselves

I think winning cures all but when you lose it’s easy to point out all the traditional things that made Neyland stadium so magical.

I was raging before the first game. It’s a horrible decision and quite frankly a potential safety issue.

The walk through concessions are helpful, but the bathroom situation is still a disaster. Tickets on the 45 yard line in row 40 ain’t cheap. Whereas I was able to quickly go up and get to the concourse, now I have to go down, or filter my way down 3 sections to get back up.

I was at my son’s middle school b ball game he coaches and it was loud! I’m older too and then the visiting cheerleaders were stomping on the floor I thought what does this have to do with academia lol
