Since Volnation has its very on Psycholgist/ therapist perhaps we can get a treatment plan. I would suggest the typical middle aged vol fans problem lies in exaggerated expectations. My new mindset is to remind myself of that the majority of years that I have been a Tennessee fan we have Ben middle of the pack to upper middle of the pack. I simply do not recognize volunteer mediocrity.
We are owned by bammer and Florida and LSU and now Georgia. It has taken 20 years but I get it. We are not dominant and most of my life it has been that way. (1963-present). Keep Pruitt because hiring a new “better” coach won’t fix the problem of mediocrity. I love my state and my team.
It is easier to settle since we recruit and play mercenaries who don’t know Tennessee is the greatest state of them all, and we pay them to play.
Help us doc we all suffer from BVS. I want a divorce from the Vols because she is truly a gomer gone a whoring but I love her. Whoring with bammers
dawgs and rich men. No divorce for me just pain and suffering and mediocrity.

Fan disappointment has to be described in different ways. I will try and explain but probably want do very good job of it.

First I'm 49. So let's start there. I've been watching the Vols win or lose since the 70s. That means I have seen the better years of the 90s. So mu disappointment comes from knowing what we have been.

Now those much older than me have seen those years to. But they remember the 60s and 70s and early 80s years. So their disappointment also stems from knowing what we have been.

Now those of you that were born late 90s early 2000s. You have seen a few wins. But mostly garbage. All you know is what the SEC feeds you on SEC Nation on Saturday. And that's Alabama is untouchable. Well us older guys remember when Alabama was our bitch.

So to try and justify fan disappointment. You first much ask how old of a fan are you curious about. I'm not sure this will ever change. Maybe we are what we are from now on. But I will continue watching win or lose.

I think in one sense Fulmer kind of saw that playing out 15 years ago. Our glory years consisted of beating up on a hobbled Bama and a incompetent UGA through the 90s. Both those ships got righted about 2000-2005. We really at that time needed to start working on a different strategy. We went in an up and down swing from 2000-2007, with bad seasons for us at the time but three division championships too. I think that Fulmer and company realized we couldn't compete every year but we could load up a team every 3 or 4 and it worked but the lows between peaks were pretty deep especially in 2008 when Crompton didn't live up to the Blue chip rating.
