Hey everybody. I'm gonna be in knoxville driving up from gator hell over the next few days with the little ones and wanted to get the best on campus experience I could. Was hoping to take the kids into neyland. Anybody know if you can go inside(obviously not on the field) on a non game day? Thanks. Any advice on what to do in knoxville would also be appreciated as I've only been to football games there.

Sometimes the gate (I think 21?) by AMB is open during the day. Not sure if you’re ‘allowed’ in but people walk in through it to look

You can also try to schedule a tour. I’ve been on the field, in the locker room, and stood at the podium in the media center. It is really cool.

Cumberland Ave aka "the strip" is a shell of past glory. I would venture to Market Square and Gay St downtown Knoxville.

Defiantly need to goto Petes and eat breakfast. Last time I was there for 4 days I ate there every single day. Lots of cool memorabilia and pictures hanging on the wall. Food is also good and they don't stick it to you with the pricing.

Calhoun's on the River is a requirement. However, I love Gatlinburg, which is also a neat area. There is Ober Gatlinburg, which has skiing and ice skating. That is where my daughters fell in love with ice skating.

I was there in May and I thought it was cool just to drive around campus -- see my old dorm. Cruise past The Rock/ATC/Lindsey Nelson, past TBA and turn right onto Tee Martin Drive and you can drive down underneath the south and east overhang of the stadium. Not the prettiest part of Neyland, but kind of cool. You definitely feel like you're getting an up-close experience. You can pause and look through the south tunnel and see the field from your car. My Dad was with us and he's not so good with the walking so what you can see from the car was important for us.

You may want to drive to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. 40 minutes away and they will have an absolute blast.

The Smokeys are wonderful. We have spent several weeks in a cabin in the Gatlinburg area. That is a very kid friendly area. It has been on my bucket list to take the family up over Thanksgiving and have dinner up there over a long weekend. Cabins in that neck of the woods would be very reasonable this time of year.
