That's their problem then. Prove, just because I own one (I actually do not) that I am a racist.
I've never said anyone who owns one is racist. I would say that many, probably even the majority, of those owning confederate flags are racist.
Out of curiosity do you feel the same about swastikas? Would you support your state displaying swastikas?

I'd rather they display swastikas than gator flags. Infinitely less offensive.
But I am pretty sure that there are no states that fought for Nazi Germany, so your point is a non sequitur.
... and actually you did say that anybody owning one is a racist. You said the flag was racist. "guilt" by association so to speak. I would actually like to have one for the historical significance. I am not the least bit threatened by it. I do not intend ti use it as a implement of intimidation. So does that make me racist? In your eyes, apparently it does.

It's not ridiculus at all. Many people in here have argued that symbolism is irrelevant. So apparently displaying a swatstika on public land would be an acceptable thing to do.
You're arguing that symbolism is essentially irrelevant. So my question does apply. Since the swatstika is considered by nearly everyone to be a symbol of racism (as is the confederate flag) and your state wanted to display one, would you support it?
The swastika was used by a group with an undeniable agenda. The Confederate flag was a flag of several armies/brigades fighting a war which for many had nothing to do with the institution of slavery. Would you support the flying of the Bonnie Blue Flag since morons didn't bastardize it after the war?
Source? Personal experience. Have you seriously never meet or spoke to anyone with a confederate flag on their truck? Most of them don't do it to honor dead confederate soldiers, they do it to display their views.
Personal experience? Have I ever meet or spoke to some one who owns one?
I do. I own one. I have since I was 15. My flag is older than you. I can assure you from personal experience, you are more of a racist and a bigot than my flag.

It's just a CNN poll showing most don't see it as a racist symbol.
Do you believe the entire German army was racist? It's the same concept. No one is blaming the confederate soldiers. It's always the poor dying for the wealthy, that's how war works. And while to the soldiers themselves, it may not have been about slavery (just like how German soldiers probably weren't personally fighting for racial cleansing) But that doesn't change what their flag stands for.
And possibly. But what's wrong with flying an American flag?
The War was not initially started over slavery so how could it be a symbol of slavery? The American flag can't represent the soldiers that fought for the Confederacy. At that point they didn't consider themselves American's anymore. Their representatives lost their right to vote when they seceded and were for all intents and purposes a separate country.
