Fall Ball BaseVols Updates

Any current updates on player performances?
I‘ve have read courtesy of Eric Cain that Henry Ford and Blaine Brown continue to rake. Ford has looked good at 3B and CF. Brown can play either corner OUTFIELD position and both will be hitting in the middle of the lineup.
Ariel Antigua has been on a tear at the plate the past week and would likely be the starting SS IF the season started tomorrow. However, Marin will obviously be in the lineup at one of the infield spots. (Marin looks like he’s put on 15lbs of muscle). Newstrom has looked good in LF and 2B and been strong at the plate as well. He has tons of versatility and expect 2026 to be his coming out party. Levi Clark has had a strong Fall and will likely play 1B and/or DH.
Finally, two-way freshmen Evan Hankins and Taylor Tracey have impressed with power at the plate. Evan Blanco has looked strong on the mound.

Bad, other than his Chattanooga outing. Sounds like he has made some plays at 3B but the Ks are racking up. I thought he was going to keep hitting bombs. May be adjusting to Tennessee
The good thing is the power is definitely there. I think he will continue to adjust. It’s a big transition coming to this level. Very high ceiling, as he was just named one of our 3 Top 100 draft prospects. I was very impressed with him in Chatt - both in the field and at the plate.

Starting 3rd or SS this season?
TBD. Marin played a great SS last year and 3B when needed. It totally depends if Antigua keeps hitting and cuts down on his errors. Antigua needed to grow up and I think he’s matured a lot, and has the potential to be one of the top SSs in the NCAA. Big question is will Antigua stay healthy and be more consistent in the field and at the plate. The infield is super talented with Marin, Newstrom, Grimmer, Antigua, Moore, Myatt, and Clark.

Good to hear that Antigua is healthy and able to play to his potential.

Plus Abernathy, Finley Bates, Henry Ford… infield is loaded. Heck, outfield is too with Blaine Brown, Abernathy, Ford, Newstrom, Chapman, Garrett Wright, Hunter High, Jaxon Walker, etc. Not to mention some of the ridiculously talented freshmen like Taylor Tracey, Nathan Eisfelder

The bats appear to be looking like a huge plus. I’m not quite so sure how the pitching will shake out, but hopefully it becomes solid.
