Stoked about the new guys. Blaine Brown has some POP. His bat will have to be in the lineup. Chapman may be odd man out. Ford and Myatt can swing it as well.
Chapman has to improve at the plate or he will become a situational player IMO. I was actually surprised that they brought him back with the bats we had coming in.

Easy decision. Elite defense with a strong arm, excellent teammate, brings senior experience and leadership, and has ability to hit for power.

Not to mention Tony looking out for his guys that may not have better MiLB prospects. Gives Reese another year to improve his draft stock.

I get he has the ability to hit for power but does he have the capability?? I am just not sure how he stays in the lineup with what we have brought in. I hope he has an outstanding senior season and becomes a high draft pick but if he slumps I think one of the younger guys passes him up.

He certainly has the capability as he carried the team for first 1/3 of season. I love the recruiting class but love loyal teammates who have the experience and have represented the team in a stellar manner for 3 seasons even more. You won’t find a better teammate or person than Reese Chapman. I think he will have an incredible senior season. I LOVE that CTV is giving Reese a chance to prove it in 2026.

I think there’s more meat on the bone at the plate for Reese and TV knows it. I could see Reese being one of the better stories of this season. Like a Trey Lipscomb. Sometimes, guts need 4 years to reach their potential.

I was disappointed it was not a sellout. I can't believe there were so many empty seats.
Still, 4000 for a intrasquad game is pretty remarkable. It would have been sold out but it wasn’t marketed properly. UT only provided 2 weeks notice and did very little promotion unlike past seasons.

Interesting listening to Tony V on the Mike Keith Show. Henry Ford came to him at the beginning of the Fall and asked to play center field instead of right field so that he could showcase his athleticism and become more marketable. V told him yes but why don’t we try you at 3rd as well - basically showcasing your athleticism in the infield (and it was the position he played in high school). He is going to play him in the IF & OF until he settles into a spot during the season.

That’s something that impressed me during the Chatt scrimmage. These guys have so much versatility. Abernathy played CF, SS, and 2B. Looked really smooth in the infield. Garrett Wright played C & OF. Others were moved around as well. And 3 true two-way guys. A lot of exciting puzzle pieces for the staff to put together!

I do love the versatility we have on the roster, but one of the challenges we had this past season was not being able to settle on a clear best 9 and where to position them. Flexibility is great, but I hope we can find a clear lineup we like and stick with it.
