The article stated "It was a day that made for Holly Warlick to show off her coaching abilities. Amidst all the criticism she had faced, her Tennessee Lady Vols had the perfect opponent to show they were coming together and turning a corner. "

A Pat Summitt-led team would not only have "turned a corner" by the end of February, they'd have busted down a few walls to boot.

The Lady Vol b-ball program is on the verge of becoming officially irrelevant to women's college basketball. They are going the way of ODU and La. Tech, two former giants of the sport whose program died with the passing of great coaches. Thanks, Holly.

On the team only attempting three 3-pointers:
"Why would we shoot threes? We're getting in the lane. There's no reason why we would shoot threes. We got good looks in the lane, we just didn't finish. They (South Carolina) had eight blocks. It is what it is."

SERIOUSLY! A team has 8 blocks and you refuse to change something let's say like kick the ball out? "There is no reason we would shoot the 3!!!!!!!!!!! " Well you are behind the entire game might make sense that you need 3s at some point. Maybe she doesn't know 3 is greater than 2!!!.....Hmmm I will keep this basic for her....dumb it way down !! Ummmm Maybe because it creates another threat for a team to defend which could open up other players creating the opposing defense to adjust!!! Ummmm when a defense has to extend it creates openings inside then maybe some of these shots would not be blocked or missed (at least a few of them)..She has talked plenty about scoring in transition...Maybe someone should teach her about transition defense and the 3 point shot.

At the end of the day Holly must know something every other NBA, WNBA and College coach doesn't about the 3...lol
One could see Coach Summitt cringe and grimace almost every time a player took a three point shot, especially in the early days of its introduction. She seemed to be more attuned to it later and recruited some excellent long range shooters but I never got the feeling she was enamored with it.

And she SURE wasn't enamored with losing.

If they don't have any shooters, which they haven't for over ten years, why would they shoot three's? When a TN player shoots, it's even money whether the ball will go towards the goal or away from it when the player is within 6 feet of the goal. The odds get worse exponentially as the TN shooter gets deeper from the goal. As the coach said, "It is what it is."
Rennia and Evina have pretty good 3FG%, and that's when being blanketed. SEC slump notwithstanding, Meme was shooting 40%+ against the OOC cupcake schedule. Those 3 can shoot the long ball, but it would be easier for them to get some makes if Holly knew how to draw up a play for them to get open.
