On the team only attempting three 3-pointers:
"Why would we shoot threes? We're getting in the lane. There's no reason why we would shoot threes. We got good looks in the lane, we just didn't finish. They (South Carolina) had eight blocks. It is what it is."
SERIOUSLY! A team has 8 blocks and you refuse to change something let's say like kick the ball out? "There is no reason we would shoot the 3!!!!!!!!!!! " Well you are behind the entire game might make sense that you need 3s at some point. Maybe she doesn't know 3 is greater than 2!!!.....Hmmm I will keep this basic for her....dumb it way down !! Ummmm Maybe because it creates another threat for a team to defend which could open up other players creating the opposing defense to adjust!!! Ummmm when a defense has to extend it creates openings inside then maybe some of these shots would not be blocked or missed (at least a few of them)..She has talked plenty about scoring in transition...Maybe someone should teach her about transition defense and the 3 point shot.
At the end of the day Holly must know something every other NBA, WNBA and College coach doesn't about the 3...lol

Maybe it's just me, but it's not a good look if you get in the lane or in the block and get the ball repeatedly swatted in your face by Jennings or Herbert Herrigan. The worst was a sequence where I think Cheridene got stuffed by Herbert Herrigan twice on the same play before throwing up a desperation shot that sailed out of bounds. Maybe, just maybe...you might want to try doing something that doesn't let her just settle into good defensive position?

Still a nine seed other than losing either of the last two games looks like the team will make the NCAA tourney.
Strange as it is actually losing yesterday we gained from 43 to 42 in the rpi and our sos jumped to 21. So sometimes losing isn't so bad. The huge game holding the team to having to win the last two is the horrible loss to alabama it is rated our worse loss of the season.
It is gonna be LSU or Arkansas as our opponent in the SEC Tourney. Bama will be in the play in round and if they win get the honor of getting blasted out by either Miss St or SC. Winning the last two will give us an 8th place finish LSU or Arkansas will be number 9 and be who we play.I think we are in for sure if we win these last two games. Another loss to a low RPI team and things can get dicey. I haven’t looked at how the SEC bracket might end up yet. But if we end up playing Alabama in the first round and lose to them again we are out for sure. That loss was a terrible one.

I wish she would learn something about preventing turn overs and stopping baseline drives as well as drives down the lane.On the team only attempting three 3-pointers:

I was posting about this yesterday. At one point this season this team was averaging almost 9 made 3’s a game. Since January we can barely muster 1 or 2. It was really keeping the lane open for Westbrook, and even Meme, to drive early in the season. Looks like she definitely coached it out of them based on that statement. Which was my fear. If they had just continued to get plenty of shots up and made it a part of their offense we could have been a deadly team.
If we can spread the floor a little with the 3 point shot and open up driving lanes form the baseline/wings those 8 blocks become 8 fouls because their defense is out of position. I’ve stopped trying to figure out why Holly doesn’t see these things.
And since you mention it three ball scoring SC 18 Tennessee 3 lost by 15 hmm all three ball scoring also 16 free throws to our 9. Those two stats alone tell the story of the game. Two point FG Tennessee 28 SC 26. Holly still does not understand that 40 percent from the three is 60 percent from the two. That 3 is more than 2, That three point shooters are a must in the game in this era. One of the many things she doesn't get.Holly does not like the 3 ball, has never liked the 3 ball, will never like the 3 ball......Thus is the root of her poor coaching in the modern era of basketball....
That is why no 3 ball shooters come to UT.....
Agree totally. SC scored 17 pts. off our 16 turnovers, we scored 3 pts. off their 6. On fast breaks, they scored 16 to our 4.I have wondered why we want to get in an up and down game with any team when we can't play defense. I would think you would want to limit the other teams possessions by running more clock on your possessions. Not shooting the three as part of your offense is just not only ignorant but goes against all the percentages of winning basketball.
You know who won the game by who wins the three point shooting and who gets to the free throw line, plus the turnover margin. In the last two losses we have lost the three point scoring and getting to the free throw line by big margins. The win against Auburn we hit five threes to their six but they only get to the line for 5 free throws to 16. They had more turnovers than we did.
The other factor is winning or at least staying even in the turnover battle. We had 10 more turnovers than SC yesterday, 10 more turnovers than Miss St, and every game we've lost were like plus ten in turnovers, minus 8 to 10 opportunities at the line, and up to 12 points less scoring from the three.
The result is our team is a coaching disaster because were losing all the stats that make you a winner.
