Not "setting" the blame elsewhere. Sharing the blame. You think the ol was OK?
Certain people can’t bring themselves to look past JG and say someone else is responsible for the poor showing on offense. You’re absolutely correct that the OL was garbage today. Who in the hell would expect to win a game when we rush for negative yards and uga rushes for 193 yds. JG isn’t perfect but that supposed five star o line we have did not live up to the billing today.

Yeah, I've heard this for the entire time JG has been here. Maybe one day his apologists will consider how corrosive his play to nearly every aspect of this team's performance.
What I don’t get is how someone who obviously understands football to an extreme level like Pruitt either cannot see it or at least not have a plan B ready to put in without hesitation. I can support starting JG this season. I cannot for the life of me not understand how you don’t have someone in the bullpen ready to step in.

Georgia's defense has allowed 20+ points once in the last 2 years.

That was to LSU and Joe Burrow and company.

South Carolina scored 20 last year, but 17 were in regulation and 7 of that came on a pick 6.

Tennessee got 21 today and 7 were from a defensive score.

A lot of what happened today had WAY, WAY, WAY more to do with Georgia's defense than JG and the rest of the Tennessee offense.

Honestly, I think not having Spring practice, and a limited Fall, sealed our fate with JG. There was no time to get Bailey ready, and Maurer had an injury during Fall camp. I said in another thread that this game was lost two years ago when Pruitt failed to recruit a top level QB talent. Neither Shrout nor Maurer are a top level talent, and we are paying a price now.

1. You cannot win a game when the opponent has the ball almost a full quarter more than you (Georgia had possession 13:16 more than we did)

2. You cannot win a game when you go 4/17 on 3rd down.

3. You will never win a game when you never make it to the Red Zone the entire game.

4. You cannot win a game if you turn the ball over 3 times.

5. You will never win a game in the SEC with -1 rushing yards.

6. 10 penalties for 84 yards is practically responsible for at least 2 touchdowns.

Honestly, the fact that we scored 21 points is amazing. I'm not knocking Pruitt. I still think he is the guy.

But our offense didnt get it done. And because they literally couldnt sustain a drive long enough to get it in the red zone even one time, our defense got gassed. I think Georgia had 30 players that played over 100 snaps on defense last year? They had plenty of depth on defense, and their defense dominated our offense with the exception of some splash plays.

Basically? The offensive line tonight blew it. Sure, JG screwed up too. But when they couldnt open up holes for the run game, they set us up to rely too much on JG.

I am literally embarrassed that we netted -1 yards in what was SUPPOSED to be our strength.

But with those stats I just posted? We are lucky it wasnt worse.

I am glad the streak is over, and that monkey is off our back, but I really expected much more of a closer game today.
I felt like we were being teased. We had the momentum going into the locker room. Plus we were getting the ball first after the half. Then it all exploded. JG should have taken the sack or threw the ball away. Ball control did us in and you can never do that against a superior team.

Ok smart guy, who is the replacement you'd hire that would come?
Not being a smart arse. Just trying to get a lay of where you stand. I'm not sure what's up to be honest. I lean toward JG being the best option we have because Pruitt has been around football at a high level for some time.

I wonder if he felt JG had progressed, or if he felt the offensive sad could scheme around it or that the offensive line works be so dominant we could impose our will enough to keep us in games. Or if he counted on HB being the guy but no camp and off-season program left him behind and or he's just not where he thought he'd be with the playbook. I just don't know but this level of offensive incompetence isn't a good look to recruits when you are attempting to sell tennessee closing the gap on the elite.

If any of the above is true it's still an indictment on the coach and his staff. I'm not sure what the answers are though.

I think that if you are in the SEC in the year 2020, that your plan cannot be to have a „good enough“ quarterback. The level of competition is such that you better have a top notch performer with top notch backups. The old idea that you can have a strong team with a good enough qb to manage the game is what doomed Miles at LSU. Alabama used to build their team that way, but Saban realized a few years back that even Alabama with its incredible OL and DL had to go out and get a Tua. The game has changed and you will not run a high powered modern finely tuned SEC caliber offense with an „adequate“ 4 cylinder engine.

Even if all that is true, your number one guy can always get hit by a bus. If you don’t have a great backup, you are playing Russian Roulette

That's still another indictment on this staff. We can't develop qb's, can't expect elite prospect interest if you can't develop them.

Dawgs D has gotten better under Kirby every year. We have gotten better too. But letss face it, until Pruitt gets some above avge QB, we are stuck as 3-4 loss team.
