Fact or Fiction: The Vols win 9 games in 2011?

Personally, I would love about a 2 wins per season incline. So for example, if we end up about a 5-7 team this year, I'd hope to be at least a 7-5 team in 2011, and a 9-3 team in 2012, etc.

Wishful thinking, but very hard to visualize when we haven't seen the coaching product and the real talent level of the '09 and '10 classes materialize yet.

It depends on who is on the schedule.

Speculating as to what it could be (including dropping UF, UGA, and Bama and possibly picking up North and South Dakota and perhaps Maryville or Alcoa).

There are 9 teams that we can beat.

So, I'll go with fact.

If Montana and MTSU are not locks, it is going to be a long season. I think they are locks. I am expecting to win 8 or 9 and maybe knock off at least one of the bad boys in there somewhere. Tn was just a couple of special teams plays away from beating the National Champs last year and played the runner up in the SEC championship very tough and I think our QB situation looks much brighter this year. Yeah I expect 8-10 wins.

we have 5 "gimme" wins: Montana, UNC replacement, MTSU, Vandy, Kentucky

we have 4 games I expect us to win as of right now: Cincy, UGA, USCjr, Arkansas. I love that we return the majority of our team/talent while UGA, USCjr, and Arkansas all lose their big guns and we have them all 3 at home.

that LSU game in Neyland is VERY winnable.

counting the bowl game, that is 11 realistically winnable games. and I have a hard time not saying the Vols are the favorite in no less than 8 of them.

9 wins- Fact or Fiction?

It'll be tight. No "gimme" wins, everyone will be gunning, especially KY. Cincy will be an even match, same situation as us. SC may be the easiest as Spurrier will be gone, but UGA will be tough as that will be the make or break game for CMR.

Like many others say, if recruiting continues apace, the biggest factor may be the game plan, we're all praying CDD will actually have a unique vision. I'm predicting 6-7 wins this year, 7-8 next and will be disappointed by anything less than 9 in 2012.

I would have said yes, however, the lack of confidence from the athletic department lead me to believe we have more problems in 2011 than we know about.

I would have to say its a push. Untill we see a few games this season I don't think you can say its a fact we will win 9+ next year and I don't think anyone can say its fiction either. Although LV you make a great argument that has me leaning more to the fact side and I HOPE you are correct sir! GBO!

I see where we "could" win 9 of those games but with whats happened in the past 2 seasons I'm not quick to gurantee anything these days.

UGA- Will eventualy get back to Georgia football
Cincy- Not sure what they have after this season but with Kelly at ND I don't look for them to be a serouis threat for awhile.

LSU- Hard to tell...could be post Miles Era by then?

Georgia IS getting back to Georgia football: 8 wins and a bowl game. it is the 11 wins or more seasons that are the aberration.

Cock Fans: Fiction! According to our fan base, we are going to beat UT for the next 4-5 years.

Reality: Fact! When typing in mediocre in Google I get "Did you mean University of South Carolina?"

Oh yeah!!! I know those cock fans and I know they say that! they make me sick. This is the game that I actually pray before the game and say 'Lord please I know you don't care about football but PLEASE let us beat their butts !!! In Jesus name amen!":birgits_giggle:

If Dooley is the right coach, we win 9 games in 2011. Unless he proves me wrong, I'm gonna say fact.

This is fact man.... Arkansas loses Mallet aka their offense... Les Miles is and idiot... Georgia is not going to get exponentially better... and next year we will have Walls and Martin back on the line plus all the experience gained from this year.... i'll jump on this bandwagon without hesitation
