Pure fantasy.

But with so many old and potentiall new programs seeking space. Could you imagine a mini-dome type structure over near soccer/softball complex?

It does not have to be as big as the ETSU mini-dome but would be suitable for lots of things.

Indoor (hell outdoor) track; gymnastics and field sports could use in inclement conditions. Could you imagine some baseball in such a dome for the February games? if nothing else than an annual preseason tournament.

Just a pipe dream I know and it would be very hard to justify the expense. I know a dome would be more suitable for winter and softball practice than the current football facility.

For all accounts I would like to see a new track complex with a new outdoor facility sitting next to a top-of-the line indoor complex. The current Tom Black track could be used by the school for more pressing projects. Dorms, parking, classroom space, etc.

Gymnastics has never thrilled me but I know it's a rather popular ticket for some SEC schools.

A dome practice facility, or a dome for sports traditionally played outdoors? I only ask, because common sense says a practice only facility is less expensive.However, if you are suggesting it for outdoor sports, forget it IMO.

If any Vols fans are such wimps that they need domes to watch any sport that was meant to be played outdoors, they need to keep their pampered butts at home, and watch it on TV. Inclement conditions? In the immortal words of Chad Johnson, Child Please!

Tom Black track probably could stand some updates. How much is feasible is debatable. Lots of it depends on the university's willingness to invest in lower revenue producing sports, and the fan base's willingness to support them. Donors who pony up the bucks for it would make it possible. Fantasies will not.

Then, that dome idea is a complete waste of money and
land. And when you look at a map of the University, finding suitable ground space is a big issue. Many of UT's new building projects are requiring them to expand into the Fort Sanders community, and somebody suggest domes? Perhaps he knows of a safe way to make one that can float on the Tennessee River. Call me old fashioned, but I think watching outdoor sports in a dome sucks.

Here's the way I see it. If they are going to HAVE a track team, they MUST HAVE an indoor facility.

They could have added track to the football complex, but they didn't.

They need to build a multi purpose, Track/Volleyball facility anyway...I wonder how much more money it would take to include baseball/softball into a new facilities plan and if baseball/softball donors might get on board? Would CDS and the Weekly's even desire this?

They aren't going to get enough donations(from track people) to make it happen as long as JJ is the coach...

Obviously, the easiest thing would be to play around with the start of the college baseball season.:)

We need to upgrade Neyland to 125,000 seats and engineer it so the sound will be more deafening.

Need a sushi/possem diner, juice bar and piano in the Sports facility lounge too.

I was also thinking we could drop a NASCAR 3/4 mile race track (ubber high banking in the corners) into the middle of Neyland.

And the Minidome was a very useful facility for basketball, football and track.

I think an indoor stadium would be good for track and baseball in the future.

Tom Black Track and Lindsey Nelson Stadium could be used as parking lots.

I'd like to see Tom Black Track upgraded. Stokely torn down and a multi-purpose "mini dome" of sorts be placed there for Volleyball/Indoor Track/Other purposes.

they can't fill it now,I think it would be a good thing to try and improve the track team,there use to be a lot of fast football players come from there,it would be great to have a indoor practice field for softball/baseball/track/volleyball that would help to bring in better athletes for all sports
