Facebook post by a Gator Fan

I read every word. This gator fan has more intelligence and insight than 90% of the people on this site. I've been attending games since Bill Battle was coach. Have not been so embarassed to be associated with this fan base as I have in the past two weeks.

Butch Jones took over a program that had been left for dead by Derek Dooley. Left. For. Dead. The roster had to be completely rebuilt. Did any of you go to a Vol Walk say in 2012 and see what a ragtag bunch of short fat guys made up this team when Butch took it?

No one is even talking about the injuries. This team is down at least five starters -- Jackson, Gaulden, Pig, Maggitt, and North. Name another SEC school down almost a quarter its starting lineup. Please name another??

This fan base absolutely gets what it deserves and will continue to. We're now on our second decade of irrelevance. Does anyone really think after all these years that the whining and crying helps? Really? You don't think for example the way this fan base treated Jonathan Crompton played into Lane Kiffin's comfort in walking out?

Stop being so negative. Give Butch a chance.

Absolutely off the top of my head, Arkansas is missing a starting RB and their top three WRs. That's four just in the skill positions on offense. It is a myth that Tennessee is the only team that has injuries or plays young players. I'm sorry, it just is.

Idiots around here don't realize when you change coaches it kills your program. Fire butch, lose all the recruits, lose current players and go through this cycle all over again. Relax.

You're right. I'd hate to change coaches, beat our divisional rivals, destroy the #3 team in the country who just beat Alabama, and start 5-0 like Florida did when they demanded a coaching change.

Two things...

From the post... "Butch Jones has made your program revelant again." We're f'n 2-3 (most likely 2-5 in a few weeks) but yeah... We're totally relevant again.

That wasn't a Gator fan. There was way too much passion in the last few paragraphs. The person that wrote that is a Teennessee fan.

+1

Out at "one the worst shape programs in football history". We weren't even the worst program in our conference. We were bad, but this is a stupid exaggeration. This guy is the idiot!

This was posted on FB today by a Gator fan.

I never thought I would live to see the day that a Gator fan comes to a Tennessee board and make more sense than all of the Catbones" we have on Vol Nation, but there it is in black and white. He said all the things I've wanted to say but didn't have the balls to do it for not wanting to hear all the backlash.

Thanks for posting his rant but that is just my opinion!

So gator fans are the "go to" for dependable sports insight? Really, you post this on a UT board like it's written in red in the New Testament. I have unchristian thoughts about what you can do with your gator opinions.

No he don't. He is 100% right. And anyone who knows football knows he is right. You all want Butch fired. I bet you one thing,he wont be out of a job very long. There will be a lot of teams who will hire him right away. Be careful what you all wish for. You get Butch fired and see if Georgia or S Carolina don't go after him.

Yeah you keep on shilling this same line ad nauseam.

So far you are 100% wrong.

This team is regressing and it is apparent in every game of consequence.

Some Saturday real soon, these UT football players wil get it all lined up and they will "snap and cccccccccccccccccclear"the field of anyone in their way.Book it.Everyone, especially me,was pissed and "butt-hurt"about last weeks game. The third of close heartbreaks that has us at 2-3 not5-0.we're on to rhe Georgia game. We hung with those dawgs the last three years with no depth, not much talent, and rotten-ass luck. They should hope for a lot of that to happen on10/10/15.It won't.PUT A HOBNAIL BOOT ON THEIR THROATS AND MUD-STOMP THEM BACK TO Athens. GBO

butch may find a job quickly if he and Tennessee were to part ways but no SEC school, except maybe vandy, would hire him.

Obviously you don't fall into the "anyone who knows football" category.

I will repeat again, but use examples, as to how this is comparable to Muschamp or name your coach here.

My experience is that winners, win. Losers, lose.

You can claim Florida just had bad luck when South Carolina blocked a field goal, then blocked a punt in the 4th quarter in order to tie that game and eventually win it in overtime last season.

Last season, you can claim it's not the coach's fault that a pass hit the Florida tight end in the chest and was dropped in the end zone late in the 4th quarter that probably would have ended up winning the game for Florida vs. LSU.

You can claim it's not the coach's fault that a pass bounced off the tight end's hands right to a defensive back against FSU when Florida would have gone up 16-0 and ended up being returned for a touchdown making it a 9-7 ball game.

In 2004, Florida played Miami in the Peach Bowl. Miami blocked a field goal and it took a perfect bounce to the fastest player in America, Devin Hester, and was returned for a touchdown. Florida blocked a Miami punt and caught the block and was down when falling to the ground. If the ball is blocked backward, it's an easy touchdown. One could claim that was luck.

But, my experience tells me those things are not accidents. It's not an accident that Les Miles gets "lucky". It's not an accident that Phil Fulmer got "lucky" from time to time.

Winners win. Losers lose.

And one of the ways you know it isn't luck, is when there are new and creative ways found in order to lose.

Yep. This all damn day. You are what your record says. All these idiots, and yes they are idiots, agreeing with the OP and saying he is smarter than our fanbase are delusional.

McElwain is 5-0. Jones is 2-3. And none of that is an accident or luck or youth or injuries. It's the way it is.

UGA fans are screaming to fire Mark richt on Finebaum today.

As upset as I would be if I were a dog they need to go over what happened up here when we fired a tenured SEC champ coach. If you are going to do that you had better have a rock solid plan going forward or hello hoping for 6 wins a year.

Easy for this guy to write, they have their coach, they're 5-0 and he hasn't experienced 1/100 of the hell Tennessee fans have....he can go F himself.

Still do not like a Gator referring to another group of people as idiots. No call for that kind of nonsense.

I honestly believe, though, that if Butch made some more aggressive moves I think that he could save his job/season. I know fans were frothing over Dobbs before the season, but he is very limited and a very poor passing QB. I know that Dormity (sp?) is a freshman, but it may really be time to put him in and start using one of the most impressive WR groups (on paper so far only) in the SEC. Short of making some more radical moves like that, I agree with UT fans that Butch will always be Butch, and now that he has set the foundation, UT needs a go-for-the-throat kind of coach to ever really become elite again. Just my opinion.

Bielema took over a far worst program that Jones did. There's no debating that.

yeah..sure did....one year removed from an 11 win season and a very competitive program created by Petrino. If old boy had kept it in his pants he'd still be at Arkansas and probably would have won the SEC by now.

You know, I do bleed orange. I was starting to doubt after these hard loses. I believe everything that CBJ stands for. Even if he is not the best game manager. I really believe he will learn from the mistakes. I'm all in, I believe in him.

Sometimes we have to decide what is the most important things in life. These are the facts...

-grades have went up exponential
-he can recruit top talent
-he has created a culture of excellence
-he has a big heart for the VFL veterans and they love him. Besides a running back that is an atheist
-he is laying the foundation for greatness

Yes he has to win. I am happy that he is the caretaker and I see his true value. Don't hate, appreciate.
