Yeah, i saw their stats last year. A historically good offense (in which 90% of the production is gone) and a historically bad defense (of which the most productive players are gone). Yeah, makes me feel a lot better.

optimism is he right word but we need to make sure its that and not FANaticism. This is on paper a 7-8 win (before bowl) team based on schedule. I think we are capable excepting major injuries and expected development to beat that by 2. but we could come one game short depending on injuries and how much other teams develop.

I Find it hilarious that in our (UT fans) minds UK and VU are these perennial doormats. They have both been on the upswing the past 10 years. Talent wise the SEC is at one of its highest levels. Those 2 inclosed and they are reaching their peaks. I am a child of the 70's and this i not the vandy and UK teams of the 70-90's

You act like 121's offense has to be as good as 120's to win games. It doesn't. 121's defense will need to be better than 120's. That's not an impossible task.

Having a S&C coach from the NFL will have an impact on 121. We'll see in 2 weeks how much.

From the player interviews Rick seems to have had a large amount of positive influence on the players and coaches.

Im not "acting" like anything. You said to check the stats, i did. Neither of us have no ide how good the defense or offense will have to be.

My bad. You are leading me to believe that you think 121's offense has to be as good as 120's.

Isn't that why you brought up "Historically" and that 90% of it had to be replaced.

Is it a stretch to expect or historically bad at times defense to improve and might even end up good? Shoop is a good coach. The players have the talent.

We can't know, but I do have some idea of how good 121 can be. Based off past performance and current work habits. That's like evidence used in solving a mystery. Sure we won't know who is right for a while, but I do have the ability to draw conclusions based off the evidence available.

Could I be wrong? Yes.

It's just not likely.

Well of course. We all know to d has to improve, but we have no evidence that it has or will. In his original post he suggest we should look at past stats as proof of improvement this year, so i looked at last years stats.

So you know, im a big fan of the new db coach, but concerned that the gains he brings may be negated by the loses on dline.

All he said was "there are plenty of genuine reasons to believe 121 can achieve the highest of expectations".

Disagree if you want, but I see no reason to get bent outta shape.

Who is getting bent out of shape? He cited stats from previous years as one of those "geniune reasons to believe 121 can achieve the highest of expectations." I dont see how so i asked. Why is everyone such crybabies when someone ask to explain a seemingly inaccurate statement?

Freak should set up a safe space thread and charge admission and remove anyone that dare question even the most absurd optimisim.

Yeah, you make good statements and they sound all warm and fuzzy, trouble is the only evidence to back them up is Go vols.

Yes, you asked and didn't like his answer, now you're slinging the crybaby safe place crap. Just like clock work. You say you just want to have an honest conversation, but when someone tries and you disagree it always ends just like this.

So, I see nothing at all to get the excited about for this season. Offense gonna suck, defense gonna suck, new coaches gonna suck and as always, Butch gonna suck. Yea, I know, you have never said "fire Butch". You just have no confidence in him, don't think he's a very good coach, expect another 8-4 or 7-5 season and laugh at thinking he will ever win a championship. But you don't want him fired.

If I was as convinced as you and a few others that Butch was as bad as y'all "know" he is, I would be ready to replace him now!

You better hope Freak doesn't start that safe thread and charge admission. I ain't paying to talk to you.
