Extending Cuonzo Martin - How Long?

The Fire Cuonzo bunch will be in full force if 17-14 is the best Tennessee does in 2014-2015. I hope Stokes and Richardson return though. If they do Tennessee maybe better than what people think.

um Richardson is a junior so yes he will be back....

That's good that He's returning. A lot of Juniors go to the NBA(or try to) that's why I said that.

If you think he is going to the NBA or has a chance to get drafted in the NBA after this season, well whatever......

:good!:

and not many jrs enter the NBA draft

your implication was either he was a senior or that he was a junior and was going to enter draft. both of which are way off.

I was thinking that as a Junior he might try out the NBA draft waters. I'm glad that I'm wrong about that

I understand Richardson is going to run a crazy fast 40 time at the combine. Just saying, if he runs a 4.3 he might crack the second round.

No need to be a dick. Dave said he hopes he didn't leave early, it's a simple statement. Most know he's in no way leaving but yall act like juniors never leave early when we had one do it just 3 yrs ago.

I did not bring up the rebuilding garbage someone else within this thread brought it up (zaqhhh).

That being said I dont believe that 17-14 is good enough. That would mean 1 NCAAT in 4 years - UT should do better than that, much better. Guess you are ok with that though. :good!:

I didn't say I was ok with that, but I don't think you fire a coach after that after making a tourney run just the year before.

Look, you're a negative individual we all get it, let's enjoy this run and worry about next year....next year :hi:

Right. And not for nothing, but I've seen players go from nowhere on the NBA radar to draft picks just because of the NCAAT. Not saying this happens, but if Tennessee continues a run, and Richardson keeps playing like he's playing, he will definitely start getting more attention.

Purdue was 15-17 this season,Purdue doesn't tolerate that sh ite. Another season of this and they will be looking for a new Head Coach.

I'm glad some of you gladly-will-shoot-the-coach crowd brought this guy up. He's a very good coach, obviously from his record. Do some of you all really believe a coach or team cant have an off year? You are not the majority on this.

Cal has to "rebuild" every year. This year is no different than last, or 2012 or 2011. The difference is he has no solid experience. WCS and Poythress have the experience but are complete busts.

That's his problem. He's the poster boy for how one-and-done isn't working. Here's the deal with a lot of 5 star guys. A lot of them need developing.

I was raised on Boilermaker basketball. They have a small minority of idiots that are making a little noise about Painter, but Purdue couldn't afford to buy him out even if they wanted to. Painter has had some big misses in recruiting since Martin left town. There is no way in state talent like Gary Harris (Purdue legacy) Braden Dawson, G. Rob III (Purdue legacy), Mitch McGary (originally considered a Purdue lean), Spike Albrecht, Zac Irvin, Trevon Bluiett, etc escape the state with Cuonzo in town. Martin was Purdue's closer and they have yet to figure out how to replace him.

Two seasons. I have a feeling Purdue will come calling for CCM in the next seasons and I think that he would leave UT for his alma mater.

Depends on Stokes and the 2015 recruiting class. If Stokes comes back and we get a good class in 2015, I'd think Martin can weather next season. We should be a borderline NCAA team with a similar record to this year if Hubbs is legit and Josh can play like he is now. But next years team has a much smaller margin for error and if anything goes wrong we'll be NIT or worse.

If Stokes goes, Hubbs doesn't shine and we get don't sign some top 75 kids in 2015, it'll be a year post Texas A&M type feelings.

A TUMS moment. Richardson will have to be the man next year. I don't know what that means to him, but it means 18ppg at least to me.

Whoa, hold the wagon, stop!! Did you just say that Cuonzo Martin was the Purdue closer on recruits and there's been no replacement?

Painter is a good coach, he will get it turned around. He has started to change his recruiting to better fit his system, instead of recruiting the best player and trying to force him into the system. This years class of 3* players fits better than any of the recent 4* classes he has signed.

Yup, keep in mind, U.T. has signed more 5* recruits with Martin in 3 recruiting classes than Painter has signed since he has been at Purdue.

Moore, Johnson, Hummel, Kramer, Grant, Jackson...those were all guys that Martin played a big part in landing. Purdue hasn't had that level of recruiting since Martin left, and you can see the results on the court. A bunch of talented players that do not fit the system at all.
