Ya know one thing that scares me is how Alabama exposed Tennessee on Saturday. They did the same thing to us as they did to LSU last year then LSU had that 3 game losing stint. What if the same thing happens to us because our weakness was exposed? Stack the box and dare J. Dobbs to throw. Has this coaching staff proved they can adjust? they didnt in the Alabama game and you cant blame it all to injuries. Our defense was holding up...ok NOT great but ok. Until our offense couldnt move the ball and kept our defense on the field. There is one thing Debord and Les Miles have in common......age!

Sure Bama exposed us with what was basically our JV offensive line vs. their NFL front 7. Even if our first team O line had played they would have " exposed" us, however, I don't think they would have " embarrassed" us.

So lets assume this Alabama exposed us theory is true and look at it. Now we are talking about Alabama. The defense that is loaded with Sunday starters at just about every level. 5* talent everywhere on the field. Right? Ok They exposed us. They stacked the box and dared Dobbs to beat them. He didnt. As a matter of fact, Alabama completely dominated. Thats established.

TAMU has a decent defense but they didnt expose anything. And let me see, there was another team we played and beat that had a pretty good defense, maybe second best in the SEC behind Bama, oh yeah Florida. Now, shouldnt we assume that most teams who watch film on Tennessee know their weakness? The passing game right? Well what did Dobbs do to a very good UF defense? He lit them up. We had a much healthier team then as well.

No offense to you but you are severely underestimating the significance of our injuries. Its borderline historic. As a matter of fact, a thread was made about just how bad the injuries are. The OP talked about the 2002 UT team which had a ton of injuries but compared to this team? Not really close. So at a minimum, team 120 is the most injury riddled team for UT in the past 14 years and possibly longer. Now if the injury situation were a little better, then no, you couldnt blame the loss on them. But given the facts of the injuries we had, yes you can say the majority of the blame for the loss can be put on injuries.

Now Bama played a terrific game. But lets get back to your exposed point. So what if they did, in reality, expose us? Does that really mean anything in the context of our next 5 games? Nope. Why? Because name me a team that remains on our schedule that even has a 1/4 of the defensive talent Alabama has. As a mayter of fact, I can really only think of 1 player that actually warrants mentioning and thats Charles Harris of Mizzou. Other than that, there are no Tabors, Fitzpatricks, Jacksons, Fosters, Williams or anyone close to those guys.

Yes Alabama beat us up. But if we get healthy again, there is no team on the rest of our schedule that can accomplish anything close to what Bama did. Simply because that kind of talent only exists at Alabama.

Do you really think stacking the box,and making Dobbs throw is a new concept to other teams? No, this has been the scouting report on UT for a while. It was just a bad all-around game. The team has got to put it behind them.

When you take away Dobbs legs because for whatever reason you show up chicken sh!t for the day teams are going to stack the box and tee of on your RB's. The read option only works if the damn QB has the option to keep the ball and run, don't believe me go back and watch any game Worley started. Then some will say well they were trying to protect Dobbs by keeping him in the pocket, how in the hell does that make one bit of sense? Especially with a beat up OL, Dobbs is best when he can use his legs but when you leave him in the pocket behind that makeshift OL Saturday they were setting him up to get killed. I know people have high hopes for Dormady next year and I think he will be an outstanding QB but just not in this system. He will get killed in the pocket

Was Tennessee going to win that game Saturday? Probably not, the injuries were too much before the game even started, but the coaches sure as hell didn't put the offense in the best position to win and I'll leave it at that.

Whichever way this teams goes depends on Dobbs, if he runs the ball more the better the offense clicks, the less he runs the more they will struggle and must rely heavily on the defense to win.

Not many teams can play that man to man defense on the back end all game and contain the edges at the same time.

That defensive unit is as good as it gets in CFB.

So is "exposed" just the cool new thing to say and sound like the next sports guru? Did McElroy or Booger use it to an extreme recently or something?

We weren't exposed, they just leaned on us until we broke because we were missing so many key pieces.

It's hard to win a heavyweight boxing match when you go in with a broken left rib, swollen eye, and bum left shoulder.

What was expose Satuday was that we were over hyped AGAIN by VOL fans who thought this team was capable of beating Alabama. Injuries are an excuse; if we were 100% healthy on Saturday, we would still have gotten beat by at least 2 TDs. They are that much better than we are.

Injuries are not an excuse when half of your starters are out due to injuries.. It's a fact, not an excuse. Would we have won Saturday had all of them been healthy? That's a question nobody can answer.

Like I said..............over hype by our fans. It's the offensive play calls, it's the injuries, it's always some excuse. They are worlds better than us on talent and coaching.
