Expedition or Tahoe???

Gas mileage..thats a good one. I tend to forget about that as it doesnt concern me much in my life. As a lot of "SUV"s have gone from the body on frame style they have replaced mini-vans. I just don't like the van look. A good example is the new Pathfinder. I liked its old look a lot. The new look isn't too bad but it comes off minivan-ish and I just cant get past that.

Obviously a lot of people buy a vehicle out of necessity and not on how it makes them look. But the fact remains that you often will be judged on what you drive, just like one might be by the way they dress or present themselves to people.

1. An aristocrat... has no cares about the cost of fuel.
2. Admits that he prefers SUV because it looks better than a minivan.
3. Says people judge you on the kind of car you drive.

You are what is wrong with America right now. Superficial, materialistic and caught up in
keeping up with The Jones.

Didn't take a dime? Ummm no.

Not to stay solvent. And you should read the link. GM and Chrysler applied also,on top of the funds they were already given.

Not to mention they build crap.
(I worked for GM for 5 years- I know the product they build)

I think a lot of Chevrolets are built in Mexico (trucks for sure).

I looked at a truck recently and it said assembled in Mexico.

Yeah. I was a tech. I fixed so many vettes and impala's for water leaks. It would rain and passenger side floor boards would fill up with water. I finally found the flaw in the build and I'm in gm's service manuals on how to make the repair.

In central Florida I see a TON of old rusty piece of sh#t toyota's and hondas. Some people will say they drive them because they are reliable. I say if you are driving a 1995 honda civic you probably have terrible credit and low income.

I am contemplating several new SUV's but I'm shallow and I will probably pick a luxury one although I could save money and get everything I need in an American brand.

By often, do you mean the snob's viewpoint? Vehicles are transportation and nothing more. I can understand purchasing luxurious vehicles that make you feel good sitting in them and driving them. Someone driving an old rusty car means nothing more to me than that is what they're comfortable in as far as transportation goes. I haven't washed my car in 3-4 weeks so I guess I'm low on the esteem survey.:hi:

GM compensate you for your work in finding the repair and it's in the SM & not a TSB? What year cars & any links to it? Pretty cool when a regular figures something out the engineers didn't

There was a tsb on it. But mind you it's been years. Only the vette, impala and the Malibu had the issues. The Malibu was the worse. The rotors on those cars are trash. You can't turn them. They had to be replaced. GM finally started warranting them after a year of customers complaining.

Gm's electrical is a joke as well.

I received no money for it. I left GM in 2002 and haven't looked back. So I guess figure up to those years and previous models of the same vehicles.

I've had no issues with the GM products I've purchased. Perhaps, I've been lucky the past 50 years.

Apparently. We lost 2 4door 4x4 p/u trucks in the last 6 weeks. Both with 5.3's. Both engines locked up. Both were replaced with similar fords with the 5.0's.

Guess its time to size them up

I can see where that would sour you. I've owned a few Fords way back during the muscle car era. Just never kept them long enough to have any possible problems. Went through a lot of cars back them just trying to find the fastest. I've owned a lot of cars of different brands over the years just always drift back to the GM's.
