Do we still expect and demand to win SEC titles around here anymore or are we just happy with 8 and 9 win seasons?

I do... and would argue there is a direct correlation between the expectations of a fanbase and championships.

I like Pruitt. I like the things he's done. I think he is a "football coach" whereas the last couple of guys really weren't. But he should get a chance and no more. The standard should be high and he should be expected to meet it. The only worthy standard for a coach is championships.

College football fandom isn't hard. You embrace your team with fervent allegiance interwoven into your identity. You urgently wish for your team to defeat each and every opponent, admittedly, some more ardently than others. You celebrate or commiserate over the actual results. Repeat. CFB is hope eternal, made all the more so by the limited time the players are with the team. Each season is a question mark. Each season, "it" could happen. Connect. Believe. Why even bother being a fan if you're only expecting to be on par with Ole Miss and the like. Lyle had back-to-back 9-win seasons, which were the best seasons we had in a decade, and we were all saying what a disappointment it was that we didn't win 10+.

Beating up on Indiana State is not the same as beating Georgia. Butch peaked at 5-3 in conference play as his best season in 2015 and it went downhill quick afterwards. He had an overall SEC record of 14-24; he was an abject failure as a coach in the SEC.
