Why even bother being a fan if you're only expecting to be on par with Ole Miss and the like. Lyle had back-to-back 9-win seasons, which were the best seasons we had in a decade, and we were all saying what a disappointment it was that we didn't win 10+.

BUT we did have some tough losses those years which tainted the 9 win seasons. I typically would be happy with 9 wins and not complain too much but since we were dominating games that we eventually lost it made it seem like we underperformed. Oklahoma and Arkansas loses come to mind right away.

I don't know of any "Tennessee Volunteer" fan happy with 8 and 9 win seasons. Highly doubt they exist.
Yes, it's been 21 years since we won our last one, but who knows, maybe we'll win 2-3 in the next 7 or 8 years.

We are a long long way from having a SEC championship program.
Ga. is talent loaded.
Fl has our number.
The west is strong, Bama, LSU, TAM, Auburn are contenders.
Puts us about mid pack in the SEC, on good years.
Can we build to being a champion? That is the question.

LMAO, no we're not "a long, long way." Sounds like you need to root for another school.

We are getting a good recruiting class in 21 plus we had a good one last year. Why can’t we be competing for a SEC and East title in 2022. We wanted to run Phil off for 8-4 seasons

22 to be exact I was 19 then now 41 I never Imagined back in 98 that all these years later that we wouldn’t have won another or more. Crazy and even more crazy that we are still tied for 2nd behind Bama for SEC titles just shows how rich our winning tradition is and that post 2005 we have sadly been in the dumpster mostly.

Good recruiting classes will not cut it in the SEC.
They have to be GREAT for 4-5 years running.
