-Beat Missouri and Vanderbilt
-Make it to the SECCG(we very likely lose there but play hard and clean)
-Win whatever bowl game we make

This would put us at 10-4 but it's a respectable 10-4 imo.
We beat Florida and our only real upset for the season was SC. This would leave me content with the season and Butch Jones for now.

These are my REALISTIC expectations for the end of the season and I expect nothing less.

What say you VN?

I'm with you. Make it respectable against Alabama. Move into the offseason, hope for a great recruiting class.

VolNation then goes into it's football dormancy period for nine months, sort of like team 121 being in the fetal stage, and the posts & threads here get ridiculous!

I like it OP. I think most will be happy with this going in to the close of recruiting. Win the next two, Make the SEC title game a 4 quarter game, and win the bowl.

-Beat the crap out of Mizwho and Candy.
-Win the East
-Give Bama a respectable game in Atlanta
-Win the Citrus/Sugar Bowl (fingers crossed). We'll probably play FSU for Citrus and Oklahoma for Sugar.
-Land Trey Smith and have a top 15 class, hopefully higher.

So, 10-4, SEC East Champs, top 15 recruiting class. Good, not great, year, all things considered.

I will say:
look like krap but win the next two
Play better against crimson turds
Play much better against a bowl tea and win
Get Trey Smith
Give lyle a little more money
do not extend his contract
change 2 or 3 coaches:clapping:

My hopes are that our players take advantage of the few remaining snaps they have this season. That the seniors (and juniors who leave after this season) know how grateful the fans are that they wanted to play for Tennessee. And that our fans who are idiots decide to do the right thing and find another team in the off season.

I figured out a long time ago expectations just lead you to disappointment. Be happy with what you're given, and do your best to make the most of it.

Go Vols!!!!

Expect to win the last 2.
Expect Bama to win convincingly over either UT or UF. 3 tds+. But it looks likely that its UT.
The bowl game is hard to handicap given the opponent is unknown.

If we catch a decent team I see 9-5 as the finish. If we pull similar teams to the last 2 years I would expect to win.

That record will not pass the eye test nor will the play on the field. Last years team played better football for the season than this group has. Poorly coached and undisciplined in several areas have lead to inconsistency and turnovers that have derailed an 11 win regular season.

Totally agree. The SC loss is going to sting for years but this scenario will make for a good season.

I see the same thing. Coaching was horrible this year. Luck had us beat App St. and UGA. That would put us at 7-6 with no SEC championship game loss.

Win against Missouri
Win a close game that shouldn't be against Vandy
Beat down in the SECCG.
Disrespected by the committee and play a lesser team.
Win the bowl convincingly and get stuck with Jones for an extension of 3 yrs.

Agreed. I would add that the next two to four months will be critical to CBJ. What he does or doesn't do with asst coaches will give new life or seal his fate. We all know OL and OC are needed changes, i would add S&C to the list as well after this year. CBJ's fate is in his own hands.

A tight close win over Missouri. (their QB is a tough accurate under rated player with good receivers, a defense that is tough and under rated, despite their 3-7 record).

A comfortable second half win over Vanderbilt. (Vanderbilt has better talent this season and play hard till halftime, get over run in the second half).

A shockingly tough performance by the defense this time will inspire the offense in either a 7 point loss to Alabama or a 7 point victory over Alabama. (second chance armed with live reps memory, embarrassment over the last result, returning injured players, big stage).

If the Volunteers beat Alabama they probably won't be considered for a playoff spot, they'll get a pretty nice bowl game. If the Vols lose to Alabama even a repeat winning the East will garner a decent bowl invite.

Does idiot refer to people who don't agree with your opinion? There's plenty of people I disagree with on here, but as far as I know they are intelligent people.

You really have to much faith in Jones to do the right thing. He's not dumping the OC he hand picked or any of his buddies for that matter.
