Expectations for next year

UCLA beat us this year, they'll be better next year and we probably won't.

How in the world could we not be better than this year? The extent of our improvement is obviously directly tied to the new HC and his staff. But to think we wont be better than this year is crazy. Do you not realize how bad we are this year?

There are so many variables still up in the air that will decide UT's season next year. Lets assume that Kiffin is the new HC, he brings in a staff at least closely resembeling what we are hearing, and he closes the recruiting year solidly.

WKU (W) Not possible to be this bad.
UCLA (W) They are not very good, @ Knoxville.
Florida (L) We still have a ways to catch up athlete wise.
Ohio (W)
Auburn (W)
Georgia (L) If this game was later in season I would think differently.
Alabama (L)
South Carolina (Toss up)
Memphis (W)
Mississippi (Toss up)
Vandy (W) By this time of the season new coaches are making big impact.
Kentucky (W) See above statement.

If the new staff makes only solid improvements, 7 wins should certainly be attainable. If the improvements are significant, then we can steal either the USC or Ole Miss game (both possibly). That would be an 8 or 9 win season and a great building block. Less than 7 wins would be disappointment with the new staff. More than 9 wins is very unlikely.

expecting 10 wins next year is tantamount to expecting Santa to bring you what you really want for Christmas. it aint happening.

I don't consider these as unrelated events.

Three word hint: Polar Bear Express. :)

Can you hear the sleigh bell, Jake?

Way too early for me to speculate! :popcorn: Got to see who's coach, who's QB, who's leaving early, who's coming in. . .anymore who's I've left out!

It will be ALOT better than 08!
We will have a QB. Maybe Tajh Boyd will jump in and do some magical things.
We should beat ga and au. Georgia losing stafford is HUGE. There should be a helluva lot more disipline on this team if the new hc is worth anything. It is terrible right now. My predection it 9-3 maybe 10-2 if we can upset Fla or Stupid ass Bammer

with as weak of a schedule we have next year, anything less than 8 or 9 wins would be a huge dissapointment, even with a new coach

You call playing Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Miss soft? I mean, granted your OOC games aren't remarkable, but your SEC schedule is pretty rough. Always is.

At any rate, I'll say 6-5 or 5-6. I can't find 7 wins for you in there, but likewise can't really find 7 losses.

you're way off.

Well...if I have learned one thing over the last few years, it is to just not speculate at all...my heart has been torn out and carved up so many times, I think I will just sit back and see what happens. I will die with every loss and get reborn with every win...but speculate...? It just hurts too much right now to engage in that.

Way to early to make these predictions, but I'm bored and we're 4-7 so who cares....

WKU - W
UCLA - W, Payback
@Florida - L
Ohio - W
Auburn - W, we crack the top 25
Georgia - L, we get put back into reality
@Alabama - L, we get destroyed
South Carolina - W
Memphis - W
@Mississippi - L
Vandy - W
@Kentucky - W

8-4 but I think I drank a little to much kool-aid before I made these.

Sept. 12 UCLA Knoxville W
Sept. 19 Florida* Gainesville L
Sept. 26 Ohio Knoxville W
Oct. 3 Auburn* Knoxville W
Oct. 10 Georgia* Knoxville L
Oct. 24 Alabama* Tuscaloosa L
Oct. 31 South Carolina* Knoxville L
Nov. 7 Memphis Knoxville W
Nov. 14 Mississippi* Oxford W
Nov. 21 Vanderbilt* Knoxville W
Nov. 28 Kentucky* Lexington W
Dec. 5 SEC Championship Atlanta N/A

Lou Holtz could coach next year's team to wins over Ohio, Memphis, and Kentucky.
Hopefully we can win expected wins against UCLA, Mississippi, Vandy.
Maybe win unexpected games against South Carolina and Auburn since they are both at home.
Maybe win a bowl game.
All these = 9 wins and would be a great year.

Dont see us beating Florida, Georgia, or Alabama next year no matter who our coach is...

As much as I would like to speculate about next year, I think its too early. I mean we dont even know who our new coach will be, what recruits will stay or go, and injuries will factor into the record, but hopefully there wont be any. Ill get back to this when our coach is announced.
