Expectations for GA vs FL

Agreed, if we can meet both teams before we suffer any major injuries (we usually see a couple) then I think we have a good shot to win both games, we have more stability coming back and early in the season that should be the difference maker for us to pull of wins in both of these contests.

Really need to come out of Appy State and VA Tech with no injuries and W's.

We should have no trouble with either of those teams. We beat them easily. UF and UGA will both be tough games.

I'm personally hoping Smart is a direct descendent of the Sal Sunseri/Derek Dooley branch of the Saban Coaching Tree.

Hopefully he will Richt out at 8 wins per season!

That Georgia game wasn't as close as the final score. The dawgs got their first TD on a cheap fumble return for 90 yards or so. And another TD on a bogus punt return that should have been called back due a block in the back. That's 14 points that the puppies didn't earn.

+ the 7 or 3 certain points that we didn't get due to Hurd's gift fumble on the goal line. We finished on a 35-7 run to make it 38-31, but I honestly think it could've been a 45-17 type ballgame. I know all plays in a game actually count, I'm just saying that despite a 7 point final margin, we thoroughly outplayed Georgia for a majority of the game and the final score doesn't adequately portray that.

florida will be down this year and UT is loaded--the vols win that game by 13 +. The only games I'm worried about are alabama and georgia.

I think most give CKS and UGA a pass because UGA generally can field a team capable of winning 8 games without doing much.

CKS situation is really good. UF is rebuilding a little bit.

We go to Athens and FL comes to kville...it's understandable why there may be a little more trepidation for UGA.

Of course it's countered with the streak, so there s anxiousness for both games.

We'll see soon enough

If Nick Chubb is health then it will be down to the wire. Hard to beat a healthy Chubb!

Bama 1st team D kept him under 4 ypc, we kept him under 4 ypc before he went down. He hit one long one against the Bama 4s when he and the Dawgs were blown out last year that upped his average. He's good but he ain't Super Dawg or Bo Jackson good, he wasn't even Bama Heisman 240 lb running back good.

Most of the opinions I'm seeing for the VOLS lean towards beating UF (some thinking blowout) but thinking GA will be very close. I understand the home field advantage but that should only be about 3pts either way. Both states produce plenty of talent and both rosters have plenty of talent. Why does a majority of fans think Kirby is automatically going to be a winning head coach in the SEC. We have already seen examples that working for Saban does not guarantee you can be head coach!! He may be great but "never" being a head coach puts a doubt in my mind that he's ready to be an SEC champ coach.
So why all the love for GA and very little for FL. Florida has shown it has a coach capable of winning.

Georgia has more talent.

Florida has been terrible recruiting the last 2 years. They have a history of underachieving when they had top 5 talent. Now they more a top 15 team in terms of talent. I expect they fall off.

Both Georgia and Florida are loaded with talent as usual, but Florida may have one of the best defenses in the nation.....adding to the task of UT defeating the Gators.....it won't come easy, but the Vols must get this monkey off their back once and for all
Go Vols

We all carry our personal biases based on what we've experienced.

As such, I can't help but believe Georgia will be much better.

I saw Florida teams without having the forward pass as an option average over 2 yards more per carry rushing vs. Georgia than their season average. You play Florida twice with Treon Harris at QB and you're not even close to competitive in either game? Two different games where you trailed by more than 3 touchdowns against a team that had trouble scoring 3 TD's in a game.

Florida has scored 65 points in the last 2 contests vs. Georgia. This is not even counting games Georgia did win against Florida where they didn't perform up to their capability. Georgia beat the 4-8 Gator team of 2013 by a field goal.

I'm sorry if I am the only one, but everyone here always assumes that someone's new coach sucks.

Personally, I believe Georgia has more than likely upgraded its coaching staff.

If Chubb is healthy the Dogs may present a bigger challenge than most Vols fans want to admit

fact is, how the coaching change affects UGA is a question needing answered. until we see them in action, we just won't know.

i think you should be able to expect the normal growing pains and learning curve. plus a Freshmen qb most likely.....i'm going to expect UGA to take a few lumps along the way, but overall be a pretty darn good football team.

i don't see FL or GA being worse than 8 win teams, and both could be better than that. i'd say right now GA is more likely to be a 9+ win team with their talent and schedule.
