Well, we have the rest of the year to know for sure. But unfortunately I am feeling that our expectations have trended down over the last three years. When Pearl was here I told a friend of mine (FL fan) that Bruce is good for 20 wins per year and I fully believed it. Felt great knowing that to be true. Now that is not the case. I think Cuonzo is good for at least 16 and the ceiling is around 20. Hate that because he is a great guy. Thoughts ?

Strange thread title considering 2010 might be the most disappointing season in UT basketball history.

20 wins with this roster is a failure, though. Martin needs to get them focused.

You have our past seasons mixed up.
2010 was the Elite Eight run.

This team has a lot to improve on if we are to make the dance. That team in 2010 didn't have the best talent but they had the dog in them that it took to win, this team has yet to show that fire.

Can it perform at a high level? I damn sure hope so for the players sake.

I think he means the 2010-11 season when he said that. Elite Eight happened in the year 2010 but was the 2009-10 season.

You are too young to remember 1991 and 1994.

I was thinking of 2010-2011 since he used 2013 to describe this season.

OK, then.

I wouldn't call 2011 the most disappointing ever though. My expectations for that season were brought way down by the situation with the coaching staff.

So honestly, does anyone expect Cuonzo to get it done? Curious as to the answers. I have really been on the fence , waiting for a couple of years of recruiting, etc. But I am really having some doubts this year. 22 games left. I think 16-6 is about what he needs , but we are sitting here with 3 losses 9 games in.

When we were 7-0 and won the Preseason NIT, I was seriously believing Final Four.

Then....yeah.

We shall see. But I seriously do think we can be 10-3. We have to win some conference road games.

We were certainly playing like we could reach those heights. I felt like the NCAA cloud was somehow helping our play - that the players were motivated by it. But, I kept thinking the NCAA cloud would eventually take its toll. It was hard to enjoy the successes, because I kept thinking it could all be taken away at anytime.

Then, something hit the media; I can't remember what the exact story was, but it basically said CBP probably wouldn't be the coach after the season concluded. After that, the team's play went south.

My first memory of UT basketball is the four-point play against UK in 1993. But yeah, I'm not exactly sure what the mood was going into those seasons so that may have been an exaggeration.

Yeah, we went form beating #3 Pitt on the road to losing to Oakland, Charlotte, a terrible USC team, and Charleston. It was such a random dropoff because I don't remember any negative news that hit the public during that period. Plus we won the tipoff after Pearl's SEC suspension was announced. Just a weird situation.

He won 19 or better every year he coached except the first year taking a horrible MSU team over. He has won 24, 26, 19, 20 his last four years. We were short players since he came and he still won 19 and 20. So how is he not a 20 win per year coach?
