Wackos.. That hurts, and I just hate the trolls that keep insisting that the "Tennessee fan base" is getting what they deserve.. PLEASE... It ain't us.

Proof is in the fact that Schiano still isn't a head coach, and probably won't be one any time soon, unless it's for the Cleveland Browns.

Loving the view from this high horse. We were right. The whole time we were right and we did it. I'm so mad and happy at the same time I can't stand it.

How does John Currie ever work again?

i think you have to consider who was making the list of choices. i think it's pretty evident now that there was a very short list to begin with, and there really wasn't a lot of effort put in to going after virtually any of the "names" people wanted, or thought we might have a shot at. by all accounts, they probably could have hired Les Miles and Tee Martin. but they weren't really ever a consideration. Never even attempted with Chip Kelly, and aside from Dan Mullen, Schiano was the top of the list it seems.

and by the time they did try to go to other candidates, the damage was done.

Schiano was the list! We’ve known that for months now. It just reemphasizes what all of you have been posting. The mismanagement of this program has been beyond epic. And we can thank one donor family for it.

The fact that that family could make the Browns even worse just goes to show why they have no business having any input whatsoever in football decisions at UT.

Great question. The epitome of ineptitude.

Being called a wacko by the likes of Currie actually makes it a compliment.

UT fans and alumni need to come to the realization that this job is not very popular in the eyes of coaches across the country.

If these coaches are the ONLY ones to be a serious option... we've really fallen to the bottom of the barrel.

It's true at this moment, but let's analyze for a moment.
The pool of available "good" coaches wasn't that strong. Chip Kelly, Jimbo and Mullen excluded. And even with that, there are doubts. Jimbo didn't impress me at all the last couple of years. Chip Kelly, sort of a d-bag with a west coast scheme that might not work in the SEC.

But beyond all that, the underlying reason for UT's stock being down points in one direction. The Athletic department has been run by amateurs since Dickey retired. Kiffen was almost a good hire, but he bolted. That brought you Dooley (back to him in a moment), and Dooley brought you Jones.

Hamilton and Hart combined with the Haslams is the cancer. Just think, if they had got the right guy in there instead of Dooley, there would never have been a Butch Jones. Nonchalantly giving up the term "Lady Vols" was stupid. It goes on and on.

So back to your point. UT's stock is down. Even though you think the job isn't popular for other coaches, I would argue that with the right management in place, not only would this be a great place to be a coach, it would attract the best. All it would take is for the clowns to get out of the way, get a REAL coach, which I think we have, and an AD that understands SEC football (and other sports) and I think we have that now. Fulmer haters will appear after saying that, but if you argue that he is going to be worse that Hamilton/Hart, I'd say you'd lose that argument.

With all this chaos being documented for public consumption, and without fail-safe measures in place, what keeps the BOT from mucking up future efforts?

At this point, all volnation is getting is a look behind the scenes, nothing is changing how these guys do business until changes are made.

Technically nothing keeps the BOT from screwing up in the future, but the Currie debacle did appear to put a different clique of boosters in charge for the time being (Fulmerites instead of Haslam).

I was thrilled to see the Haslams lose a power struggle for once, but that doesn't guarantee that the other faction of boosters will do any better.

Read through a lot of that stuff. Just a heads up....there is a way to DRAMATIZE a story, communication, texting etc and make it appear worst, better, crazier, saner, funny, happy, sad etc (surely you get the pic)....see IN SEARCH OF BIGFOOT program for example ...just use the right music, right choice of words, crazy sounds in the forest, ask the right questions etc and a simple kids birthday party can be made to appear as a satanic ritual....now I’m not defending anybody or anything...just saying use caution when reading this stuff. Heck...if done correctly...one could make your texting with your mother something obscene....I think the bottom line is Currie should have known what he was heading into and showed amazing lack of understanding....

If there was one silver lining to the Bama sanctions, it was an elimination of a lot of greedy BOT nitwits. In retrospect, it had a very positive effect on the way business gets done. You just can't have your horses pulling in different directions, it's h*ll on progress.

Good thing you’ve already apologized for being a Currie apologist while disparaging Blackburn as a guy who should be working st a fast food window and categorically stating that Fulmer wasn’t qualified to be an AD. Helps somewhat negate you, for some odd reason, still sticking up and defending the guy. Did you really mean that mea culpa or nah?

Might wanna sit this thread out Butchna.

Nah...I’m fine. :) Didn’t say that Blackburn SHOULD work a window...JOKED that he did. If you took that as “disparaging”? Then it worked! Message board crap affects nothing and I wasn’t a Currie APOLOGIST. I simply defended his right to have a fair shot at this job without all the superfluous bull generated on here DISPARAGING his previous experience. In the after-action report, his failure that justified his firing stemmed from the mess of a football coaching search. NOT from messing up the basketball hire at Kansas State (catch any of last night’s action? :wink2:) or his relationship with their saintly and grandfatherly football icon, who’s currently holding that program hostage as he tries to strongarm his unqualified son as the successor. Nor did I give any credence to him “backstabbing” Fulmer in his previous tenure in Knoxville. If I did, I wouldn’t be able to support our current AD...it’s a big boy business. :) In the end he failed at his job and he got fired by our stand-up Chancellor (of whom we’re a mutual fan). No, much as I like you I can’t abandon you with your hot-headed reactionary tendencies...and so much to poop on. Gotta be that voice of reason, as is my lot in life. :shades:

Wow...could Erik Ainge be any more of a kiss@$$. Love how he stands firm on the fact he is a VFL and wants what is best for the University yet reading his texts to Currie... exposed for who he really is.

And whats with the exchange asking Currie to reply with something funny...come on' just reply with something funny to appease me. WACKO!
