I know we haven't won an SEC game this year, but this week will be different. Ole Miss is going to have to do something none of the other Vol's SEC opponents have had to do, work on defending the pass. We've been able to run the ball this year against good defenses, so with our passing game now in a rhythm our offense is no longer a powder puff. With UT's offense no longer one deminsional, expect the Vols to score points, upwards of 35. The story will be the defense in this game. I expect Justin Wilcox will earn his money and help UT pull out a big Victory by coming up with the right game plan to slow down Ole Miss this weekend as the Vols march to a bowl game! GBO!

It would be nice to pay them back for last year. I'd take a SEC win though even if it was by a point. Just win.

Hope you are right about us beating Ole Miss, but don't think everything is rosey all of a suden. We are still exceptionally one dimensional offensively -- we run the same 3-5 plays every possession. Think Ole Miss will be waiting on the Da'Rick fly sweep?

Ole Miss beat Kentucky, but only because KY fumbled the game away. Vanderbilt beat Ole Miss. I believe we can beat Ole Miss and Vandy, but I hope to high heaven we beat Kensucky. I have to work with a lot of diehard (or is that blowhard) Cats fans.

What do MSU, East Carolina, Tulsa, Louisville, Houston and UT all have in common? They all dropped at least 48 points on Memphis.

Next week will be a much closer ballgame.

Hopefully the # of caught passes will help the run. Bray just opens up the offensive schemes that were limited with Simms.:peace2:

Since both defenses stink, it could come down to who has the ball last and who doesn't shoot their self in the foot.
Turnovers will probably decide the game.

It was Memphis man.....we won't look nearly as good against Ole Miss. We have a great chance of winning. We just have to limit turnovers and cause a few

this game is very winnable...masoli left the game last night with a concussion and may not be able to play next weekend so that can only be good for us if he dont

This is not exactly true. Although Bray may get safetys to think twice about creeping into the box, he's still young and incredibly inexperienced and so is the oline. Play calling is limited but it does still help.

Jacksonville_St, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Fresno_State, Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Louisiana Monroe have in common? Ole Miss opponents, I think our D may have better numbers with that schedule. Now that we have an offense, I think our D may be a little.

I know. The emotions on this board are so turbulent it's unreal. Last week everyone wanted to disband the football program. This week everyone wants to go ahead and declare bray next years heisman winner.

Play calling is limited but Bray is hitting recievers in different position on the field. I do not recall Simms spreading the ball out to different recievers.

The Sagarin rankings have us favored by 5 over Ole Miss (since it's in Knoxville). Given where we've been this year in terms of expectations, let's just be happy with that and worry about expecting big wins later.

Here is my analysis on the game coming up:

1) Our players understand that they should have beaten Memphis the way they did but do not underestimate the importance of winning a game. Hell, we haven't won since September before last night. Bad opponent or not, our guys are a little more upbeat and feeling good coming off of a win.

2) Once again, bad opponent or not, we all have to be excited about the play of Bray. The kid just seems to be heads and shoulders more gifted than Simms and actually moves around in the pocket quite well (stepping up in the pocket and throwing over the middle as well as rolling out and throwing on the run). Having a talent at QB like Bray that will only get better with time is comforting. I feel much better with him ni there than Simms.

3) Defensive line. Once again, I know I am saying all this realizing it was Memphis, but our D Line finally came up with some big sacks and pressures and forced turnovers. This will do a lot for their confidence going forward.

4) Gameday atmosphere in Knoxville. I think coming off of a win, the crowd will realize that maybe, just maybe we can piece together these last 3 games and get to a bowl which would be HUGE for this team. What I mean is that the fans should arrive this weekend expecting to win as opposed to hoping to keep it close like other home games this season. Combine optimism with the new General Neyland statue and homecoming and a Saturday on Rocky Top and I think the gameday atmosphere can be electric and motivate all of us from fans down to the players.

5) Ole Miss defense. While having talent in their front 7, Ole Miss has a lackluster secondary and one that we can expose if Bray is given time. I just feel our offense has a more open playbook available with Bray out there and a good mix of run/pass against an average defense will yield results.

6) Wilcox. I have not been the biggest fan of his this year. I understand the lack of talent and depth but schematically we have been lost at times this year and there should be no excuse for that. I'm hoping for the offense to reduce the three and outs and our D will get some rest, but I also have a feeling Wilcox earns the paycheck this weekend. I am sure that even after a concussion, Masoli will play Saturday and I just think Wilcox will have something for em.

7) Janzen Jackson. Did anyone else finally feel some confidence seeing him field and return punts last night? I know I did. I think this guy can and will help flip field position sooner than later.

8) Da'Rick. Keep the man back there on kickoff return. Like Janzen, I think he will make a cut or two Saturday to give us some great field position on returns. Hopefully he wont get many chances seeing as we don't want Ole Miss to score :)

Overall, with the players juiced after a win, gameday atmosphere, great fans that are LOUD, and certain personnel changes paying off for us, I think we can and WILL win this game. We need to do our part as fans so we can help them in their efforts to do their part on the field.

GO VOLS! Beats the Black Bears err Rebels err whatever the hell they are these days!

Not so fast! We need a healthy OL to run the ball & block for Bray.

Dooley said that Fulton suffered an ankle injury last night & so he may not be able to play vs. Ole Miss. Dooley said that he had to move Shaw to RG and play Schofield, who is returning from his own injury, at LG "because we didn't have anybody else".

I hope you're right, but I'm concerned that we keep having injuries to our OL with no depth.

I hope so and I hope Da'Rick tosses it back to Bray while Justin Hunter is sailing down the sidelines. Every team we play will be looking for the fly sweep, we just need to take advantage of that. GBO
