Expansion Rumor

It is short sighted to go after tv market simply for the short term contracts. If you hurt the brand it will come back to haunt you in the long run. We need programs that can sustain success.

This...

It is about content, anyways. If you have good programming and great rivalries/storylines each week, people will tune in. What good does it do you to have access to markets if your product sucks?

Pittsburgh is just a little more than an hour north of Morgantown.

Using that logic, Charlotte is just an hour north of Columbia. Do you think Charlotte gives a rip about South Carolina football?

Really, there are more Clemson fans (bandwagoners) in North and South Carolina than anything. Which makes the argument for adding Clemson even better.

Not to mention, demographic changes indicate that population growth is moving to the south and west. Makes no sense to expand to diminishing markets to the northeast corridor.

Im against it because I like the way the SEC is.We are the best conferance and we dont need crappy teams like A and M and mizzou joining. We are fine like this.....we are the best conferance so lets not ruin it. Thats my OPINION,what do you think about the situation?

A and M and Mizzou currently might beat the absolute tar out of us. Just saying.

Yeah because we are still down but when we are back to normal they couldnt last in the SEC. If you are not a contender in the Big 12 what makes you think you will do better in the best conference in the world!!

Fun thread is gone. Whatchy'all talkin' about? Expansion? I'm neither for or against.

Frankly, it doesn't matter whether we're for it or against it. It is here, and it is happening. We can't do anything to change any more than we can change gravity.

Northeast will always have a strong money base, but since when was West Virginia a major market?

They are claiming that Pittsburgh/Cleveland areas will have more people watching (declining populations in the last decade) and that DC/Baltimore area will watch (traditional pro towns).

I used to be all for A&M joining, but not if the flip-side is trash like WVU joining too. I want it to stay the way it is now. But alas, we also can't let ourselves get lapped by those tofu eating left coasters.
