Excuse for ‘26

What will be this year’s excuse?

  • QB situation

  • Injuries

  • Coaching

  • Portal (lack of obtaining good players)

  • Too high of expectations to begin with

  • Schedule

  • Rebuilding year/young team

  • Lack of development

  • Fulmer should have never been fired

Plain and simple, it’s coaching. Always has been and always will be. CJH has proven he can win with sub par talent. He just hasn’t shown an ability to consistently coach his teams well through the years. Don’t get me wrong, I love CJH and hope he is around for a long time. He’s just got to get better in a few areas and not drop off in the areas where he is elite.

Back in the day a loss to Vandy put you squarely in the hot seat better than 50% chance you’d be gone. So we lose this year to them will be real ugly.

I love how this fanbase clamors to start a RS Freshman QB just to get to watch somebody different and then also post threads like this lol

This and that and whatever. Like we are the only team that deals with all the crap and yet we still get handled by the usual suspects. Just another year.

Discipline has definitely been an issue. We’ve committed too many penalties in the past. I will say a critical thing will be managing possessions at the end of halves. Georgia, Florida, Bama, Mississippi State were disastrous in how to manage the clock.

Even Vandy with the personal foul that gave them the ability to tie the game at half. We have to play complimentary 🏈 I know that’s an over generalized term but if our defense forces a turnover, we’ve gotta capitalize. Just like how we’ll need our defense to hold em to 3 if we turn it over on our side of the field

It's whatever Heupel can sell to the fans to hold on to his $9M/year job another year. Heck, I don't blame him, I'd do the same thing.

He is a nice guy. He is a decent coach. He isn't, and never will be 'elite', and we are watching his Peter Principle moment.

He caught lightening in a bottle in 22, and STILL couldn't close the deal. Got his butt handed to him in SC.

He will waddle his way through 7 wins, rub his razor stubble and mutter incomplete sentences, and we will buy it another year.

None. I want/expect players on the field to sweat, wage battle for every inch and foot during games. To play so well and so hard, opposing teams to whimper, and groan with relief they can even able to walk off the field at game end. By gun, we're Vols, and you'll never forget that.

you lost all credibility as a UT fan when you didn’t list “the refs are out to get us”.
