Excitement in the air reminiscent to 98 Vols

Tell me you didn't just compare the excitement around Tennessee football today with the excitement around a Tennessee football team that had Al Wilson, Raynoch Thompson, Chad Clifton, Jamal Lewis, Peerless Price, Darwin Walker, Travis Henry, Cosey Coleman, Corey Terry, Shaun Ellis, Deon Grant, Shawn Bryson, Jeff Hall, superstar Peter Warrick headhunter David Leaverton, oh, and a 50-11 record in its last five seasons.

I love your spirit, man, but c'mon now.

I saw UGA annihilate Oregon. UF beat a pretty good Utah team and Alabama do what they have been doing for over a decade now.

We appear to be in a better place than we were under Pruitt but we aren’t close to those mid to late 90s teams.

I'd say it feels like 2006 or 2015. Not expecting a championship but I do think we're capable of slaying some giants this year. All I want is 1 of the big 3 preferably Florida. We beat Florida and the season will be a success. Well, for me at least.

This Pitt matchup does remind me a lot of 2006 vs Cal.

It's got that vibe. We go in there and get the W we very well could win 9 games. A road victory against a ranked opponent will bring some swagger back. We will need it if we want to get that Florida monkey off our back. We get that Florida monkey off our back, Look Out, we may win 10.

I'd love to knock off two top 15 teams this month, but the 90s bro we always knew we were winning 10 games every yr
98 vibe...no, that was a very special team
Some say the 01 team was better but the 98 defense was stout

Peter Warrick played for FSU not UT.

We beat Ball State. We're close to a Natty??

We better hope we can scrape our way past Pitt.

Majority think Fla with a new coach and new offensive scheme will be easy. Not so fast, they're ranked 10th and have won about 75 games in a row against us. 9-3 is best case scenario,
probable 8-4. Chill out on the 1998 talk.

No other game in recent memory sent a signal to the rest of the country of how dominant the SEC was from a talent perspective to the rest of the country like that game. Cal was #9 coming into that opener and Corso even had them as natty contenders. We ran them out of the gym by halftime. It was sweet to watch

Obviously, the 1998 team was light years beyond this year's team but I'm not sure we really knew that at this point.

We had lost Peyton, Terry Fair, Marcus Nash and others to the NFL and I don't seem to remember a lot of early season excitement.

I think a lot of fans though we're were lucky to get out of the Cuse game with a victory. Seems like we were worried about Tee's 9-26 performance and most were thinking "if we can't win it all with Peyton how will we ever win it"
