Excited about the win

A slumpbuster is if a team's in a slump, or if you personally are in a slump, you gotta find the fatest, gnarliest, grossest chick and you just gotta lay the wood to her. And when you do that, you're just gonna have instant success. And it could also be called jumping on a grenade for the team. -Mark Grace

I'm happy we got the dub, this game is going to be a microcosm of the season, it's going to be gritty and grimy. They may have to embrace that identity.

Every damn one is sweet
The thing is that if we played like this every single game we would have a pretty good year. We need to be a dribble drive team, and when the opportunity presents itself kick it out for the 3. That’s the blueprint. Also, if we play that tough full court we played tonight the rest of the season it’ll put a lot more pressure on the opposing team. Especially when they have young PGs

We really lack the ball-handlers to be a dribble-drive team. Even tonight, we were fortunate to have as many fast-break points as we did. We shot poorly from outside, and didn't consistently finish around the rim in the half court. We had a few open lanes, which was most likely a product of playing against a very young and poorly coached team. Those lanes won't exist against the better, more experienced teams on our roster. We will have to become better shooters to open up those kinds of lanes. Otherwise, good teams, and well coached teams are simply going to pack the paint on us and force us to hit shots.

Yeah, I think it was a product of Vandy being pretty bad. Hopefully it’s a bit of an aggressiveness change from JJJ and Bowden to push off of rebounds too though.

Agreed BUT tonight just be watch Bowden needs. He may get that 3 ball going after tonight which would open up so much

I am all Tennessee winning. I am not sure Tennessee played well. Vandy is just that bad.
Vandie is indeed bad, but CRB made the adjustments & knew the Vols could go inside on the commode-doors. That 2-handed slam by Pons was insane!

Every damn WIN is fun with this team!!

Just need a few more to get to that major number!

Yea I am crazy but watching this team scratch, Claw and fighting its ass off is a lot of fun. Truth be told teams like this that find a way to make the dance are more fun for me to be a fan of than a team like last year where the sky was falling after close wins and every single loss.

winning at Arkansas might just be for the dance ladies and gents

Agree with you mostly on this.,,we talked about it last year how it wouldn’t be as fun as the previous year...for some reason people expected way too much of this season so that’s hampered it a little, but I agree it has been something and if they can find a way into the dance it will be a fun ride.

I love this team. They play hard and would prove a lot of people wrong if they make the dance. Especially after losing all 5 starters from last season

We were definitely the better team, but Arkansas was horrible tonight. I think we match up well with them with or without Joe, but Fayetteville is a tough environment. Bowden's stat line looks decent but he missed a number of opportunities. I know we all keep saying it but if he can somehow finally get it to click in the back-half of SEC play, I think we'll be dancing.

The way we looked to start the season upped expectations.

I know I know I know it was an ugly game BUT

Today was game we got better looks today at the hoop. Of course they didn’t go in but Bowden in particular got a lot of wide of 3 looks. I for one believe he will make again soon when open.

VS, yes I am not sold on his PG play, but he did play much more under control the second half I thought. No doubt he’s a legit scorer

Don’t look now but JJJ is now becoming a serious threat from 3. He’s up to 38% now which is damn for a guy that “can’t shoot”. Shoot MORE 5 star!!!

Already mentioned in another thread but pember mixed it up today.

Fulkerson is damn good

Overall I ain’t apologizing for celebrating any SEC win.

Just let me celebrate 8 more and It will be one hell of a dancing job by Barnes.

I am guessing that you have changed your mind on VS by now.. He went for 20pts. 8 Assists, and 3 TOs last night. He might be the best PG we have had in a while. Bone was nowhere near VS after a month on the team and Bone had preseason to get ready. He has been with the team for only 1 month and has improved dramatically. Watch him on D, he automatically picks up any player that is the greatest threat to score regardless of whose man it might be. Our O is almost nonexistent when he comes out of the game - hence the heavy minutes he is playing. The only weakness I have seen is he lets the press get too close to him before he decides to do something with the ball and, like most lefties, he is extremely left dominant.

2 things...

In hindsight how many really good teams did we beat in that stretch?

We also lost our leader and starting PG, expectations shouldn’t have adjusted at all?

We beat some teams that were expected to be good and played very close with some teams that are good....even did more recently against Kansas.

I agree with you that expectations should be adjusted with losing Turner and with JJJ out. We have a lot of young guys that are getting better and getting experience. We can play with anyone at times but will have times where we look bad.

Losing Turner is bad for this season but Vescovi is very much going to benefit from it.

Preseason I think I predicted 18, maybe 19 wins at best...and that was with a healthy Turner playing all season.
