I know I know I know it was an ugly game BUT

Today was game we got better looks today at the hoop. Of course they didn’t go in but Bowden in particular got a lot of wide of 3 looks. I for one believe he will make again soon when open.

VS, yes I am not sold on his PG play, but he did play much more under control the second half I thought. No doubt he’s a legit scorer

Don’t look now but JJJ is now becoming a serious threat from 3. He’s up to 38% now which is damn for a guy that “can’t shoot”. Shoot MORE 5 star!!!

Already mentioned in another thread but pember mixed it up today.

Fulkerson is damn good

Overall I ain’t apologizing for celebrating any SEC win.

Just let me celebrate 8 more and It will be one hell of a dancing job by Barnes.

Pons had several wide open looks too, as did Jalen (they both basically missed them all). I don’t think Jalen can really be relied on. We got lucky against Mizzou that he performed well

They have GOT to get Bowden out of his funk. There has got to be something they can do to get his confidence back up.

Strange as it sounds he “looked” different to me today

His body language didn’t look like a guy that couldn’t throw it in the ocean

if I am right and he has turned the corner from worrying about stats/missed shots and just playing the game he will get it fixed. He played today like he was “gunner”. I liked that

SC plays a tough harassing type D that makes it hard on any offense, especially one like the Vols who are offensively challenged. If i were the opposing teams coach I would leave Bowden wide open all night until he hurt me and guard the other 4 guys which makes it tougher on them to score. Bowden is hurting our offense more than just with his bad shooting.I

I don't think Barnes shares your enthusiasm.

Another “positive” note.
Vandy is going to be without their best player this Saturday.
Split these two games this week and we are right on track for 10-8 which should be the goal IMO

Lol. No doubt he’s frustrated with him

I’ve never been a big fan of calling out players like he does at times in the media so I don’t like his comments. I’d prefer he credit Bowden for one hell of a job on D he did on their best player but his use of the media has worked before

Disagree on most occasions because
today he was wide open so many times

He needs to take that drive to the elbow shot. But I agree, hard to tell a shooter not to throw it up within no one within 10 feet no matter how big a slump.

I’m not worried about Bowden. I hope he keeps on shooting and he’ll get out of this slump. I don’t want him taking less shots.

History suggests that when JB gets in a funk, it lasts a LONG time. Like half a season long.

Let’s look at this with orange colored glasses. His slumps in the last while long he didn’t get nearly as many shots. Maybe he only needs 20, 30, maybe 40 shots to shoot himself out of slumps

Doesn't matter if you are wide open if you shoot 1-18.
Yeah.
He needs to take good 3s but when they re not falling he has to find the elbows and get to the FT line. He looks completely out of rythm right now and is pressing to get out of it.

I'll be glad when Vescomi gets more experience in the league. I'm excited to have him but I must admit I was expecting a little more after watching his highlight film. I'm hoping he will be able to adjust to the speed of the game and take better care of the ball. He's getting his pocket picked way too much and seems a bit out of control on some of his drives to the basket. I also hope that he can develop a jump shot as his flat footed shooting style will make it hard to get off many shots against these quick, tight, man-to-man coverages. But ... in fairness to him, he's doing a helluva job given only a couple weeks with the program. Go SV and VOLS!

Yea

In the second half the “team” made a concerted effort to get Bowden open looks. Over his career he has been a really good spot up shooter.....they tried hard to get him going, by allowing him several “good” spot up shots......he just missed.

When the team is going to make that effort.....he has to shoot them.....just wish he didn’t miss all of those.
