For even a 1/2 decent passing game several things must happen.
1..O line has to pass block long enough for the plays to develop...isn't happening.
2...WR's have to run good routes and get some 1/2 decent separation...isn't happening.
3...Dobbs has to be able to put the ball right on target...that isn't happening either.
YES, our coaches have made some mistakes and done things at times even I would have done differently and I'm no coach.
Players are still the guys on the field that have to execute and they haven't done that in the 4th quarter.
Where are the quick slant passes that are so hard to defend?
Why aren't we throwing more to our TE's and working the middle of the field more?
Where are more trick plays to help us score more.
Dobbs throws to Jennings who throws back to Dobbs for a huge TD.
Yes, a trick play but it worked and showed coaching courage to even try it so why not more?
Dobbs to Jennnigs who throws to a WR or a TE might have worked a couple more times but we didn't even try it again.
O line can't pass protect, WR's can't get separation so we just don't have a passing game and nobody can Win much in the SEC unless they have at least a fairly decent passing game.
Even our D doesn't seem to be as good as last year and I expected us to have a much better D than last year so what happened to our D?
4th quarter when the Gators were only 6 points behind I would have put Dormady in to see if he could spark our passing game, maintain possesion, move the chains, eat more clock and tried to at least hit a FG.
A few more 1st downs and a FG would have Won the game for us and Dobbs couldn't get a passing game going so they played our run game and got the ball back to score.
Maybe Dormady wouldn't have gotten our passing game going either but I would have tried it since Dobbs wasn't hitting any passes.
Until we can pass the ball we just won't Win games like this and we've now seen proof of this 2 times this season already.
I have no idea what to do about our O line except recruit beast O linemen more and hope they can learn fast.
#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!
Our wr can't get separation because of the scheme of the routes. Not one wr can just go out there and get separation with speed. Our routes aren't innovative and not using the middle of the field proves this.
We Keep using play action instead of hitting the hole which adds 1-2 seconds per play, keeps the rb at a walk till he knows he has the ball and if he doesn't he is out of position to block blitzes. All this adds time to the length of the play, keeps our online vulnerable, our qb has to read the lb, then if he passes get in position to read the safeties and release the ball. We might snap the ball quickly but our plays develop slower than any spread offense I have ever witnessed.
