Ok I just gof on here after the heartbreak.. I've glanced here and there tonight afterwards being sick to my stomach.. I sure this has been brought up to subject here tonight but I just haven't seen it yet..

Dobbs is a smart guy intelligent no doubt but I think he's being held back because they don't trust him to make the play to throw the long ball and I believe that has set him back and hurts him and our Wr's... If they're gonna do that it's time for a change a new QB or play both.. Play a two QB system. I'm trying to find or be reasonable tonight or this morning but I can't... I'm thinking Tennessee is gonna be the death of me..

Sure Dobbs struggles with the deep ball, but how in the hell is he supposed to improve when he only throws laterally?

Agree with you, OP.

It's mind-boggling for sure. He can make these intermediate throws most of the time, but over the offseason the coaches saw something they didn't like? They have to let the kid loose IMO.

Im recalling videos of Dobbs hitting the goal posts from the 50 yard line. If he can do that, then why aren't we seeing him throw it in games like that? Maybe they don't trust his accuracy?

We've seen Dobbs in how many games..
They're either holding him back or he can't do it.. Or like you said it's the OC and HC

I might be blind but I didn't see Dobbs missing open receivers. How do we know he can't throw when we don't even try?

I saw Dobbs pass pretty well on that final drive when we had no choice but to pass. Imagine if we called those plays instead of the 3 straight runs a possession earlier. We might have run the clock out rather than giving it back to Florida.

We can talk about this till the cows come home. Won't change the fact that the BSIA won't change a damn thing.

This is our TN football now and it ain't gonna change till they are gone. 3 years maybe?

This is the same staff that continues to start Jumper. That kicked an extra point rather than going for 2 when only up 12. That kicked a fg on 4th and goal in the opening possession versus Oklahoma.

Why do you assume it's about Dobbs. Maybe they're just as stupid about this as everything else.

We saw Dobbs pass downfield last year in every game except Vandy (where Butch went full-on conservative and it actually worked), and he looked fine. He made a few mistakes, but most young QBs will.

What has changed over the summer? From the few times he actually has thrown downfield he looks decent to me. I'm sick of these receivers being underutilized.

Starting Jumper was the trolliest thing Butch has done yet. Cost us 7 points, too.

Look I'm not blaming Dobbs he had a hellova gm running the ball.. But our passing game is non existent, no long ball at all all BS short to mid throws.. Let the horses run.. I'm frustrated, we all are.. I don't f'in know man but I've lost hope in Butch..

Cosign. I don't get the whole Dobbs can't throw movement around here. The few times we've seen him allowed to throw, he looks good.

Maybe this is another Butch made problem rather than an issue with the players.

I think the last few weeks have shown Butch Jones lacks good judgement when it comes to football.

Hell yeah! When we were down all they could call was pass plays, moved the ball down the field and probably would have won if they (coaches ) could manage time, we could of had 2-3 more plays.
So yes the team can move the ball, the coaching is holdin this offense back.
Too much talent to stall out down the stretch

I honestly believe we're 4-0 if Bajakian were still here. DeBord is absolute dead weight, and that's exactly what Butch wanted. Someone to run his three play offense without complaining. If Dobbs could do it against Bama, why can't he do it now? Did he get worse?

I really like Butch; it just pains me to see someone who doesn't have a feel for coaching on gameday and who apparently prefers rewarding his friends with positions over innovating.

The same staff that thought we were better with Worley starting at Qb last year.
If he hadn't got hurt he would of started every game and we wouldn't have played in a bowl game

Gotta agree with that, and with that it means that CBJ makes bad decisions.. Of course he does..

another fact is that Dobbs doesn't have the time to set up a long pass,I don't think it is so much on Dobbs as it is on the Offensive Line difficulties and the coaches know it as the other teams Coaches know too

They don't trust the offensive line to give him the time needed to throw downfield. I don't either, it's hard to call a pass when there will either be a sack, incompletion, interception or completion. 3 of the possible outcomes are negative plays with this offensive line, a run up the middle to Hurd isn't necessarily a bad play call.

Yea our RT is awful and Dobbs is probably as we seen today the only one that can dance and move and make plays with his legs so he plays.. Makes sense to me now..

I think Butch has another year regardless, but at the least Mahoney needs the boot.

I do think they were trying to Red Shirt Dobbs last year and develop him more as a passer,to get his skills up,we have seen how well that has worked so far this year

Florida had 3 true freshmen on their o-line and blocked us well. I'd hate for us to find out Drew Richmond and Jack Jones are good enough to play now but our staff is too dumb to notice. Just like they were too dumb to notice Jumper can't play.
