Everything is setting up perfect against TAM

We are in the perfect setup going into our game against Texas A&M. If we upset them, this will be our signature win, and it will salvage our season. We could win this game against a solid TAMU team and we could lose out the rest of the way and we would still be fine as we would have our signature win. Here's why we are setup for a win...

-we are huge underdogs (TAMU is favored by 12)
-we play great and play motivated as huge underdogs
-there is no pressure on us (all the pressure is on TAMU)
-TAMU has never played at Neyland stadium
-if HB gets the start TAMU will not know what to expect
-CJP is familiar with Coach Fisher's offense and will have a defensive scheme

....if I were a betting man, I am taking Tennessee +12 points!! When we revisit this post on Sunday morning, my username will have been changed to The Prophet, lol!

It all gets down to players making plays. We finally had a decent number of representatives on pre-season coaches all SEC 3 deep picks, but seriously, in the past 4 games, I'd be challenged to name anyone who's really deserving of 1-3rd team all sec...arguably Trey and Henry T. Defense and Offense has regressed mightily since half time of UGA game. No way we're beating TaM...it would all have to come together. No way our D and QB is all the sudden going to "figure things out" for a united and cohesive good performance. Past history is usually good indicator of future performance. Trend line going wrong direction. Hope I'm wrong.

First, even if this team runs the table things are far from alright. Second, anyone who has watched this team this year and takes your advice on taking that bet is an idiot. Lastly, I've got some ideas as to what you should change your name to but unfortunately I can't post them as I'm sure I'd be banned.

Can't criticize GBOplayer. He/she is choosing to feel positive and happy for at least 5.5 days, whereas most of us are choosing (and posting) to feel miserable for the entire week--before we even see the game.

So someone tell me, which fan is more mentally healthy? And which kind of fan would you prefer to have working on your roof--or your teeth--this week?

Just curious, were you expecting UT to sneak up on Bama this year as well? It seems we have some who believe we're " just on the cusp" of turning this thing around.
We are currently watching some badly coached football.

should be way more. They'll score that in the first part of the 3rd quarter when we come out flat again and put up a big goose egg in the second half

-we play great and play motivated as huge underdogs
we haven't played great and motivated in a very long time

-there is no pressure on us (all the pressure is on TAMU)
no pressure except for the coaching staff fighting to keep their jobs

-TAMU has never played at Neyland stadium
won't matter... not many people will be there

-if HB gets the start TAMU will not know what to expect
they would quick... it would be a limited playbook

-CJP is familiar with Coach Fisher's offense and will have a defensive scheme
we need an offensive scheme... the SEC is more about offense now...which we have none of apparently

I appreciate your spirit, GBO.

Just two significant corrections:

(a) You say we could win this game and then lose out, and we would be fine. Not true. First, we absolutely have to beat Vandy. That is a non-negotiable requirement, each and every year. No matter what else happens. And second, we've already broken the standard by losing to Kentucky. Like Vandy, that's a bottom-line requirement for an okay season. Those two gotta be Ws, or even a nice victory against A&M is not enough. In other words, it's too late...and could get worse.

(b) You say there is no pressure on us. That's wrong. There may be no expectations that we will win, but the pressure is still intense on CJP & Co. They are standing beneath the Sword of Damocles. Everything they do the rest of this season contributes to or releases a bit of the pressure that could bring that blade swinging down. Fans are starting to clamor for heads (as VN.com amply shows). Even nice little old lady fans like my mom are wondering what's going wrong over there in Knoxville. Phillip is almost certainly not yet considering staff changes, but we can bet he's looking at options short of that. So yeah, pressure will be high on Jeremy and the lads for the rest of the season. Even if Vegas says we're not supposed to win.

But those two points aside, I don't want to be yet another stick in the mud for you. I truly do appreciate the spirit of your post. We could use a lot more like you.

Go Vols!

You posted this a week ago:

This bye week has given us all time for reflection. Taking a step back and looking at things again puts things in perspective...Kentucky showed they are a really good ball club...kept the game close with Georgia. This shows that our loss to Kentucky was not all that bad. Kentucky is a top 20 team. Lets keep up the hard work and keep improving!!

So I'm guessing you're "that guy" who just will keep "predicting" that we're going to be better the next week until you're finally right.

Well, seeing how they will score in the 40’s and we won’t even get to 20 the op will just be losing his +12 bet
