Is this Cutcliffe thing a done deal?

I have been sitting here not believing that CDC is our choice. How awful must Mike Hamilton be to not be able to close the deal with a blank check?

Look, I am not a Cutcliffe hater, just think that this University could do a whole lot better.

Thoughts?

My gut is no, really think we would have heard an "official" announcment by now if so!!

The board is moving on Cut as HC and Fulmer as AD. I think Cut wants Hamilton out before he comes in.

This is far from over. These things move fast but the negotiation has hurdles to go through still.

I figure I will get 7 good answers out of this before I get the, "I know this guy that is close to the program and he says......................"

I've heard that Fulmer will be the OC "over Pearl's and Summit's dead bodies."

last time out the AD went to lengths to camouflage their search.

i think that cut is just a smokescreen, fed to the media and duly reported.

it ain't over until the fat lady sings.

I know I am giving up UT football if Cut is hired.

Call me fairweathered or not a "true fan" If you want, but I will be so UNEXCITED that I will just plain loose intrest and be disgusted by the idiocy of UT.

i am a young guy but why in the world get phil jr........ get someone with some freakin energy you guys all saw volnation last year the crowd was rockin that is what you have to have these days not only to pump the current players up to win but to RECRUIT which is what we had this year It gets the recruits swag going about UT we need to establish how important football is in this sate Cut. would be like waving a white flag Get someone that pumps volnation back up I want this place rockin nxt year this is College football not pro it is what the recruits want.......... just my thought

During the last hire we were all over the board with somegoog guesses and it is my gut that guessing is all anyone including the press isdoing rightnow. I think weget a good NAME coach and NOT Cutcliffe

My gut feeling is that Hamilton still barely has the power to make the hire, that he is being heavily pressured to pick Cutcliffe, and that he knows it's a terrible hire, which is why he's dragging this out and hoping to talk to some other guys. My gut feeling is that he ends up having to take Cutcliffe.

I'm still trying to figure out why peole are hating on Cutcliffe, ya'll know, everytime he's been here TN has been pretty successful?

I say go for it.

Accurate 1st post. My wondering is why hire a search team if you are going to settle on an obvious choice. I smell smoke screen too.

My gut tells me it is not a done deal but it also tells me that Cutty or Kippy will be hired, soon. I'm really frustrated by the seeming inability of some of you to grasp the concept that UTK is not going to make a big splash hire in 3-4 days time. Muschamp was the one legitimate shot and he declined a more than generous offer. The usual roll call of big names was a pipe dream, nothing more. There is nobody out there that UTK can get right now who is going to make many of us jump out of our seats and whoop and holler with delight. What we can get, is someone who respects the program and the fans and who will stop the bleeding and start building for the future.
