The line on a game is to balance the betting. Bookies make their living on the juice.
If we want to be picked to win over quality opponents we need to put 4qtrs together in one game rather than needing 2 games.
negavol vs sunshine pumper is getting old.
It would be nice for Loyal Vol Fans to stop bashing players and coaches and stating as fact we will lose a game, leave all that for our the fans of other teams and the bandwagoneer.
But I do realize that some need to prepare for a loss by going on and on about how we will lose. When we do end up losing again, 15+ games from now, we will all be sad, but until then try enjoy every minute of our success, it's a lot of fun.
And as for any team beating #120, I've got to see it to believe it.
I can't wait to see us convert an onside kick.
Go Vols!
is there some truth here? yeah, i'm sure there are those that would prefer to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. human nature.
but what i see, more times than not, is just honest football discussion on what they see us vs. the opponent. Predicting a loss, for those people, is merely an observation on the match ups.
everyone that may predict a loss is not some headcase with confidence issues.
i predicted we'd lose to FL because of the front 7 match up for our O line. 1st half played like i thought it would, minus our defense giving up the big plays.
2nd half....well, i don't think anyone saw a 38-7 finish in that game. but was i happy? yes i was.
against UGA, i didn't see any football reason why we should lose. credit UGA for coming up with a great game plan, and credit TN for making huge plays to ultimately win. but the ending for that game....that just doesn't happen all that often. so you chock it up 1 for the good guys, and move on.
the app st game, also went against the grain. i thought it'd be more competitive than some, but i sure didn't see them leading, and going in to OT, having to rely on a missed PAT and fumble recovery for a TD to win.
so, as a negavol i guess, i'll just say this....the results i'm overly elated with, especially against FL and GA.
but the recipe as to how we got there....well, that's not a recipe that will work game in, game out, and stating that in a fashion related to how we still need to get better if we want to keep getting the results....well, that's not some self esteem issue i, or anyone else, may have.
