Everybody who wanted a new QB at halftime...

Dormady lost the only experienced receiver in the game in Jennings, with Smith already out, and all he did was throw for 220 yds 2 TDs with ZERO interceptions or fumbles (Dobbs)...never panicked down 14 in the 4th quarter...was up on his feet firing the crowd up for his defense...the kid is a LEADER. Am i saying he is peyton remade? No, its too early. He showed Clausen like ice in his veins though, and Herbstreet praised his big throws and leadership both during the game and on SC aftwrwards. We got a baller guys.

Also, great job Kelly!!! 120yds and 4TDS!!!!

Hope the defense shows up in the swamp.

GoVOLS!!!! 1 and 0!!!!

Anybody who wanted to see a new QB at half was not wrong...so don't even come with this holier than thou attitude OP

I thought Dormandy seemed a little slow in his decision making at first but then got into a nice groove. A handful of questionable throws but overall he took care of the ball and showed he can move around in the pocket a little bit. Hopefully he continues to progress and learn now that he's going to get consistent playing time.

I'm excited to see what JG can do but also believe that Dormandy proved he can be a good QB for us.

He was very, very inaccurate most of the game. Not what I expected from him. We were literally 3 and out most of the game. We won, but Butch should have put Jarrett in after halftime. Callaway is really the story in our passing game as he made some plays.

What's up with all the double posting tonight? I've seen it in multiple threads by multiple posters.

Dormandy made my Nephew Brandon look bad tonight..throwing the ball behind him also over throwing him on the td..Then they pull him out like he did something wrong..smh

GT defense was pretty bad though, UT had the ball 18 minutes and scored 42 points --- GT had it 56 minutes and lost --- on a side note F ESPN for constantly putting the camera on JG hoping he would look like that quitter Hurd did --- JG will get his turn this Sat -- keep your chin up JG, you never know what could happen (as shown in the UGA game this past Sat)

So ESPN made him act like a brat? ESPN made him act like anything but a team leader?

If I'm Jones... he gets a SERIOUS attitude adjustment or he's not even the back up this week.

Dormady had a good finish but we're going to need a running QB before the season is over with that oline play. Conference play is going to force us to go blow for blow with TDs quickly and we struggled until the 4th. It's a new season but Jones has proven to have teams that win at the last minute and the luck will run out unfortunately.

Even accounting for the slow start, UT's pace would have put them at over 500 yds of O if the TOP had been even. After the first few series, the O wasn't the problem. Unfortunately, they missed an opportunity to take control of the game early.

That's behind them. We'll see a more confident team going forward. This kind of 2nd half performance was GREAT for their future.

No. Scrapping Dormady at the half would have been terrible for the team and the season. It was his very first collegiate start. Yes, he struggled, especially in the first half, but he found his footing and showed his grit. Pulling him at any time would have put both QBs in the mode of always looking over their shoulders every time they lost their rhythm going forward. The QB needs to lead the team and it's hard to do that standing on a hair-triggered trap door.

As for JG, I'm not going to judge him based on a few sideline camera shots and Herbie's judging, but I will say that if your team is clawing it's way out of a hole, get off your ass and get behind them, whoever you are.

Yes. They were 100% wrong. When asked what he told Dormady at the half, Jones replied to "keep doing what you are doing".

Two things many of you didn't see or didn't want to see in the first half. One, five drops that stalled drives. UT got what it wanted a few times early only to have receivers drop the ball. Two, some of the balls that looked off target probably weren't. GT played zone and dropped 8 almost the whole game. When that happens, receivers have to fill gaps in the zone and the QB has to throw to those gaps. If the receiver doesn't settle then the ball looks off target when in reality the receiver ran the route wrong.

Dormady was not perfect. He threw into traffic about 3 times and got away with it. But at times he didn't get much help from those young, inexperienced receivers.

Must be in the twilight zone, I don't think I've ever agreed with as many of your posts as I have tonight. Your takes have been pretty spot on

Are you guys blind?

Dormandy didn't look off of his primary receiver at all... you can get lucky with that against GT, but UF and SEC Ds are going to feast on it.

I still 100% question whether he can play at the SEC level

Butch said that JG would play a series that wouldn't have been changing QB's and all the three and outs in the first half one could easily make a case for JG to get a series. Dormady was totally different QB in second half. First half was horrible.

Couldn't agree more. He threw late, low and behind guys all night. Callaway bailed him out big time. His wobbly throws make me question his arm as well

Just a clear sign that being a mop up duty QB can in fact help shape a great leader.

as much as I like jennings, those dropped passes by him didn't help any. Dormady is a leader tho.

For sure. Havent been as excited about a receiver since Hunter pre injury. We havent had a true deep threat since him honestly, in that Jennings is a deep threat but hes so big he gets used as a possession receiver. Also, Callaway looks to be faster...wow!

Herbstreit was right aboug Guarantano not being part of the game. Hope he gets the message from natl TV...if he were called on tonight to play, he had no idea what coverages, stunts, disguises etc we were facing. Completely sat there and pouted. I understand for 1 game...hes a Vol and i am not gonna ride him...but if he keeos that up and tries to divide the locker room...we gotta do something. Dormady sat for 2 years, and hes a 4 star also. This aint HS, and no player is bigger than the team

I didn't see anyone dividing a locker room or pouting. I saw a young guy who wanted to be out there, a drama queen color analyst trying to make drama where there was none, and a cameraman showing the sidelines instead of the freakin field. A reality TV approach to a football game may be entertaining to you, but it doesn't impress me.

And what are "we" gonna do about it? SMH

It was a tough start...he was tight and under threw a few balls and then had about 4 drops that killed drives...the biggest improvement is from week 1 to week 2...lets hope so...

Why not expect the o-line to do their jobs better instead of going to the crutch? We've had bad o-line play for 5 years now. When will they be held accountable?

His arm isn't an issue. Yes, he was a little off all night but it was his collegiate start. A lot of nerves especially when trailing most of the game.

You guys are to gung ho with calling for QD to be pulled. Ever think the reason why QD played all game is because he is ahead of JG at every aspect.

You dont use the term "we" when talking about the Vols? I have been a Vol for 40 years, and always spoken of them as "we" and "us". I am from Knoxville, bout 20 minutes down Chapman Highway from the stadium. Been going to games since Pickens and Carter prowled the sidelines.

Surely you didn't think I was suggesting I was part of the actual current team or staff did you? Oh, thats right. You arent that naive, just a run of the mill smartass. Those are a dime a dozen. I see them every day.
