Everyone talking like we are horrible since we only won by 7. Here are some interesting scores from last year:

USC-31 Stan.-28
Mich.-27 Minn-24
FSU-17 Syr.-13
VT-17 Wake-10
Mia.-28 UNC-31
Tex.-27 Kan.-23
LSU-22 OSU-21
LSU-24 Troy-20

Every good team struggles so don't worry about only beating
UAB 17-10, everything will be fine.

I agree, good post. Let's just hope that game was an aberration rather than the start of a trend.

i dont think it can get any luckier then lsu's 22-21 victory over oregon state.

great post utvol. look at the lsu- troy game. uab would destroy troy. and north carolina beat freakin miami. everyone needs to chill before u have a seizure.

I see your point Charly, but its BEING the first game made me expect to see our guys come out on fire and burn Neyland Stadium UP. I apologize to anyone who is let down at me for being disappointed by the game yesterday. I'm not turning my back on the team because goodness knows I have seen MUCH worse, but I DO think I ought to have as much right to express my disappointment when we don't play well or God forbid, lose, as my pride when we win well.

Well I mean at least we won, but I guess that is not good enough for some people.

I think most people are at least somewhat disappointed by what they saw. It was definitely not a crisp performance, but I don't think it's necessarily anything to panic about either.

I just think the Vols are better than a 7 point win over UAB and that's not taking anything away from UAB or Hackney. I respect both, but that game should never have been that close IMO.

I mean were is all this panic coming from? I mean I have never been on this board during the actuall season but guys come on it's not that bad. We went out there, looked damn good at the start of the game. Then we cooled down and made some mistakes, fixable mistakes I might add. Riggs will get alot more carries and so will Arian Foster aginst Florida. Clausen is our qb for the next game. Our playbook will open more, and I expect our linebackers to play ALOT better than what they did yesterday.

I don't see any of the "panic" that you speak of. I see frustration, disappointment and anger maybe, but not panic. If a poster can't
express their real feelings without being flamed or called down, then I for one, have better things to do.

Whos flaminng? Did you honestly truly feel in your heart we were going to win by 20? I didn't but oh well.

Look 2345, this team has been mentioned with words like National Championship etc...the team that I saw yesterday didn't look like a team who could contend for the NC. Ainge didn't look too great, the team looked flat and it goes on and on.

Now, I do have faith in our players and coaching staff. I find comfort in the fact that we now have 2 weeks to fix the things that need fixing. I KNOW that this team has a lot of talent, but no matter how good UAB is, beating them by 7 is nothing to woot about.

We won, we survived, we are 1 and 0 and I'm happy about that, but I was just a little disappointed about not seeing a better showing.

I for one think that we're going to see a different team at UF and not because of the play calling....because our coaches will fix some things and have them ready.

If you will remember in 2002, Bama opened up with Middle Tennessee in Birmingham, and jumped up 22-0. They won by a score of 39-34, and it took an int. return to seal the game. They went on and finished 10-3, and had one of the top 3 defenses that year.

Ok and this is my take on the game.

How good is UAB? Do we know? no we don't. But I bet they don't lose that many games this year.

Anyone Remeber USC's very first game last year aginst a team by the name of virgina tech that was suppose to be rebuilding last year from the losses of there rb's? Remeber how Virgina Tech came so close to beating USC? Virgina tech was ranked WAY lower than what UAB is now.

So how do you know that UAB isn't actually a very good underated team just like Virgina tech was last year? You don't. We could have played a team yesterday that is the best in there confrence and may not lose another game the rest of the year. I am proud we won that game.

Yeah I know but we didn't and its nothing to get our panties in a twist over. We could Be a better team, we may not. We wont know for two weeks so there is no reason to argue over the game. A win is a win. Now lets just hope we are like a 2 touchdown underdawg aginst Florida. I want to see us come out with our butts on fire in two weeks.
