Every team has a bad day.....this is ours

My biggest issue with today's loss is that i didn't see the effort from any of the players. We seemed to just roll over, reminiscent of the last 4 years teams.
there is no reason a 5'7'' 170 lb back should be knocking our defenders backwards when they collide.

I don't think we quit at all. They just flat out whipped us. Sometimes, shiz just happens.

And we had our BAD game against you guys. Plus, it really helps to have an extra week to prepare for a team that had played for 8 weeks in a row.

Perhaps, but we aren't very good. You get owned by the Gators.

Dirtbag.

This is a cheap shot to those of usthat actually expect to compete. You should be on the UTC boards, this is the kind of performance they would be proud of.

Ole Miss isn't this good. Look at Auburn. They embarresed us too. Are they SEC Champ contenders?

We have a LONG way to go. I hope my 5 yeay old daughter can enjoy some Tennessee success in the next 20 years.

We have A LONG way to go.

I am not super negative but we just got embarresed. The game should have been a contest.

Take a step back... balance this out with our performance against 2 #1 ranked teams on the road... and against Georgia and USCjr.

Then look at our recruiting class.

The fact we have the least penalties in the SEC (at least prior to kick-off).

I don't really want to blame the "robbery," but it was obvious we came in less focused and motivated than we have at any other time this year.

Overall, we are headed in the right direction. Get past the initial anger and you can see it.

I bet we spank ole Piss in knoxville next year.

Am I the only one that thinks "next year" is a year away?

All that matters is now.

Fulmer should be asked to give back 8 million that he was paid by UT. He obviously didn't earn it in the last few years.

It's not a cheap shot, its the truth. The simple fact remains, we have a lot of bipolar fans on this board with very short memories.

Were you saying this stuff after the UGA or USCjr games? Let you forget, we were 5-7 last year, and the only thing different with this team is some freshman and walk-ons.

I honestly don't know how anyone cannot see this team will be very competitive in the nest 3 or 3 years. The Crompton turnaround alone shows that this staff knows what they are doing.

I'd chalk a lot of this one up to the combination of 3 guys, a pellet gun, and utter ignorance.

The team played distracted and Ole Miss exploited the safety position. JJ was the guy we needed most to stop McCluster. Still, a team has to have players it can count on to behave off the field so they can show up for the game ready to play.

The simple answer... strict discipline and more recruiting.

Do you really have nothing better to do on a football Saturday than to sit here reading the message board of a team that you beat weeks ago? Doesn't your team have a game today? Aren't you still on track to win a national championship?

I don't know if you don't have any friends, or any family, or why you don't have anything else to do with your time, but whatever the case: you're a loser.

McCluster and this game reminded me of when when Jodie Meeks put up 50 on our basketball team. Sometimes, a certain player is just in the zone. Unfortunately, it's never a Tennessee player.

or UCLA.......wait a minute

Exactly! The fact that UCLA is your best comeback says a lot about where we stand under our first year with CLK and where you were your first year under CNS. The future looks bright.

Excellent post. What bowl were we in last year. While the vol nation never had the team finishing below .500 at the start of the season... there were those in the sports media that thought we'd lose to every SEC team except Vandy and maybe Kentucky.

this has just been a bad week. Great oppurtunity to recoup coming up against Vandy.

Take this L and use it for motivation for the rest of the year. Things like this happen when you're trying to re-build. Pray for LT and lets keep moving foward

It was predictable. You have crap like that go down during the week, you typically come out flat. College football is an emotional game, and there's no coach that has been born who can just magically manipulate his kids' emotions because he wants to.

Example: watch Alabama and Miss State tonight. Alabama had a big win in a gruelingly physical game last week, while Miss State had the week off. The game's in Starkville. Alabama is probably going to be flat tonight, and Miss State might be able to hang with them for awhile. Saban knows it, and no college coach is better than he is, but just because he knows it's coming doesn't mean he can do much to prevent it. Everyone is susceptible to the letdown game. Or, likewise, to the distraction of having the most embarrassing off-field incident in the history of the program happen three days previously.

That has played out both ways,I don't remember what year or years it was,but it has happened several times, that either team had at least 6 or 7 games in a row,I'm pretty sure both sides of it complained long and hard, but I do have to say i don't remember the out comes of them games for either side :)

It was a letdown and I think we had a chance of avoiding it had it not been for this week's 'incident.'

As an independent observer, I think the OP is correct. Every team has a down game - especially one that is dealing with the off-the-field stuff. Y'all went into a hostile environment, with distractions, coming off a couple of big home games. It was somewhat of a perfect storm.
Your school is on the right track. Everything isn't going to be fixed in a year. Next year, you'll be better. In two years, I'm going to have to start worrying about the trash-talking my wife will start doing again.

Right,

When are we going to have a guy run for 280 yards?

This loss is BAD. We should all be concerned about ONE GUY HAVING a total of OVER 300 yards on the ground.

I am tired of guys looking like Heisman candidates against our D, whoever the coordinator is.

there is no reason a 5'7'' 170 lb back should be knocking our defenders backwards when they collide.

The reason was that nobody could catch him. That dude was fast. Worse than that, he was quick - quick to change direction, quick to cut back, and quick to accelerate after stopping on a dime.

The D was drained. It was obvious from the first series that it was going to be a long day. I told my wife that when we got two scores down we were going to loose.

Just need to get bowl eligible so we can practice longer....

Every year, every team has one game in which they play completely over their heads and every thing clicks. They have one game in which everything sucks. You sort of have to throw both of them out in order to figure out how good the team really is.

UGA was our great game. Today was our nightmare.

agreed.

We played "over our heads" against GA?
If I am not mistaken they have lost 4...or is it now 5 games this year.

GA is not very good.

Ole Miss is better than GA but letting a guy that is not usually mentioned among the elite of the SEC have 300 yards on the ground is more than everything sucking. It is a complete total collapse, a big step back.

This game, at this time of the season, with the way it went, kills momentum going into the winter and summer.

This is the worst loss of the year. Not because we lost but because we didn't show up. UCLA and Auburn are bad but they were earlier in the season. We were supposed to have "rurned a corner" by now.

This one hurts....bad.

Yep, but it is true that games like this happen to nearly every team at some point.

I don't know if it has been brought up, but a talented USC team got absolutely pummeled by a fairly bad Stanford team. So it could be worse.

It was a terrible performance, but the main reason you don't hear McLuster mentioned more is that Houston Nutt spent the first half of the season trying to win Jevon Snead the Heisman. I was in Columbia the night SC beat Ole Miss and all anybody was saying is "Why aren't they giving it to McLuster 25 times a game?" Every time he touched the ball he picked up 10 yards.
