His pre game antics are part of his toying with the Vols. I think out of nervousness, thinking how mad fans would be if we won .I'm hoping this year since they stunk so bad against Austin Peay , the table turns.
This year is our year our time to turn the table, right the wrong, and as far as Kirby goes I'm not even listening to his pregame hype.

That man's ability to gaslight his own team is insane.... I remember players on the 2022 UGA team after they won their second national title in a row talking about how "everybody doubted us" and saying things like "y'all thought we was going 7-5/6-6 this year!" When nobody in their right mind was saying those things about that Georgia team; it was in that moment that I realized that nobody other than Nick Saban is as good at gaslighting/straight up lying to his own players to motivate them as Kirby Smart

He probably just read them some VN posts that year, we gave them plenty of ammo leading up to that game. I remember the pre-game score prediction thread being particularly embarrassing.

I actually think he is playing pysch games with his own team. Kirby is always extremely complimentary of us. And its always the same line. Something along the lines of "People think Tennessee is a pass first team, but they are a very physical team on both sides of the line of scrimmage." I always take that as Kirby letting his guys know that they need to match that physicality. We typically punch them 1st, he gets to say i told u so, and they eventually settle down and grind it out.

It also helps that he's had a pretty substantial advantage in talent, especially along the line of scrimmage.
Yep, we've been on sanctions every since Josh has been HC. I think this is the last year and we still got a lot of catching up to do in recruiting. I think Josh has done incredible with the cards is was handed and a part of that they have done well in the portal. Injuries are hurting early in this season. GBO.
I remember in the 90s the UGA fans saying we just don't have the NFL talent like UT & UF to compete with those teams. Things do change if you make a wrong move for any team.

Got to get all those 5 stars motivated somehow.. They've been sloppy so far. I expect to see them turn it up a notch like they always do against Tennessee. Vols just can't get punked at the LOS and cover the middle of the field..

First year in the last 8 I feel we have an advantage, we can take them this year. We take care of the ball we win. Then I can gloat about, .................., a fellow alumnus.

Wow, 20 years on VolNation....

All I know is I will wear my UT gear around town here in Atlanta and when we visit my mother in-law in Athens if we get the win. My brother in-law used to text me articles and videos about how amazing Georgia's defense was during the '21-'22 run they had. Will pay that back in full as well.

It’s been that way the last few years. 2022 Vols riding high and Kirby motivated his team by telling them no one believed they could stop the Vols.

Last year UGA looked beatable after getting beat by a similar style offense in Ole Miss. UGA OL was man handled by an Ole Miss DL, and our DL was expected to be even better. Bobo schemed up to attack our weakness and get the ball out quickly.

This year, the media, fans, all doubting this UGA offense, Gunnar, and Bobo. We shall see what happens but UGA always shows up against the Vols. Hoping the crowd has a major impact on this game and our Vols know they have to execute nearly flawless to win.

A great coach recruits elite talent, makes them believe they’ve got to outwork everyone, fuels them with an underdog mentality, and backs it up with a game plan stacked in their favor.

Kirby is undoubtedly the best in the business at it.

Kirby, like Saban, has proven to be a master at reverse psychology to get his team motivated.
One of the downsides to having those ultra-high talented guys is they become complacent and think they can win games on talent alone....sometimes it's hard to motivate someone that can just naturally pass a test.

Kirby is this generations Spurrier from the standpoint that it’s a former player from a rival that has a personal dislike for the Vols. Their motivations and actions might be different, but they always have their team up for the Vols. I’m pretty sure Kirby went 0-4 when he was a player so the personal motivation to be at his best and get the most out of his team has to be influenced by that.
